An Art Trade with my lovely sista it is her OC pokemon trainer Lucy and Eevee!I was in the mood to draw a witch this time, hope you don't mind sis! I went through so many tutorials to find out how to do the shadow thing on Photoshop - if anyone is interested in learning this tutorial was the best one - [link]

This is super cute^^! The overall composition is very good.
Okay, so i'll do this in parts^^.
Part 1: Character design and composition
You've created a very cute magical-girl type character. The face is very cute and expressive; the hair style is nice and flowing, and the shading is great; her outfit design is very cute, although i think different colors could have been used for the hat and the boots, since you were going with a pink and purple theme, but i will say that they agree with her familiar. The pose and character anatomy are very well done, and her accesories are cute and apropriate. Nice job!
Part 2: background, overall compostion, etc.
The background is gorgeous, and i really like how you did the caracters shadow to add some depth. Her little familiar is adorable, and the way that it interacts with the main character is very good. about the colours - i was trying to keep it similar to the ones my friend had used in her original picture - this is her oc, or else i think i would have probably gone with some different ones ^_^

The Shading:
I must admit- The shading is completely and utterly OUTSTANDING! It is shaded on the correct spots of the character and Eevee- Which gives both of them a third dimensional feel. The shading, I believe, is one of the most fabulous things in this picture (followed by so many more.) If you look back at your older drawings from months ago- The shading improved A LOT. Did you use airbrush for this type of shading? Before you used to do cel-shading- But now, I see that you are perhaps, using different techniques.
The Background:
Instead of a empty, unpromising white background- You give us a elegant starry background with a great shade of pink. I cannot say how much it makes the picture more greater than it already is (because I truly despite a beautiful picture left with a white background that seems to go into a space of nothing.) You have mastered the background in this drawing- And of course, outdone yourself! The background is also one of the other things that I adore in this drawing.
The Pose:
She seems to be in a natural pose- The anatomy seems correct in my point of view. (Oh and, how there is a shade of her body, on the background- It seems as if she IS standing on the floor of some sort- Not just flying in mid-air, making us wonder how she is doing that e.deviantart.net/emoticons/x/x⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

... Well, that is all... To sum up all my ideas- I think this whole drawing is magnificent! Although, the only thing that seemed out of the sort is the white, dots you've put on the background and character (are they stars?) It seems like a lot were added (although, it's what I think and my point of view- So don't mind it XD)

ah! my first EVER critique! Thank you!
i took my time on this picture over three days, day 1 linework, day 2 base colour, day 3 shading, so it didn't look rushed. i think the thinner lines made the picture look better than others iver done in the past, thicker lines suit some peoples styles but i dont think it suits mine ^^'
the shading was my favourite part and i looked at so many tutorials to see different techniques - i'm trying to stray from cell shading and do something a bit more complex ^^ and yes i did used airbrush for a lot of it.
i'd seen that kind of shadow used on other peoples work and just had to find out how to do it! turns out its really simple! at first i did have a more complex background but it made the picture as a whole look too chaotic, and it didn't go with the shadow.
the pose was inspired by looking through the galleries of artists i admire, always good for inspiration ^_^
hmm, the white dots were supposed to be light spots but i think i may have overdone it with them... i shall keep that in mind in future - sometimes i want to use all the new techniques i learn in the same picture, i should probably stop doing that huh? lol

yeah, i looked through so many tutorials to do the hair, i cant really follow them so well though, i kinda just winged it after following half a tutorial, lol

...Yes- I have noticed some artwork that has contained "thick-lineart" as you may call it. I think you should stick to thin lines- Since I believe it makes your drawing more... "Realistic."
