Just downloaded GIMP, so I had a go at doing something different...I had no idea how to use this ealier...but I got used to it (: and yes I failed at this...but hey it was my first go on it soo....its not gonna be perfect.I did draw this a while ago...so I decided to digitalize it ;D

GIMP! good job, my friend. ^^ i use GIMP for EVERYTHING. my realisms, CEL shaded drawings, lineart drawings...you name it. as cheap of a program as it may be, it's actually really useful when you use it to it's full potential. C:

for soft shading, i use the airbrush tool on 30-50% opacity, and for CEL shading, just use a different color. for example, to shade bright orange, use a dark red, and to shade a light green, use a dark teal/blue. ^^
