“Mercury Power! Make-up!”

True to my word, I decided to draw Sailor Mercury after she made her debut last week. I loved how they did her transformation with the water effects (both sight and sound), and before she transformed, they had her wear glasses, and she looked so cute in them! I wonder if the glasses foreshadow the visor she gets later in the series. They even made her an excellent player on the Sailor V game. No wonder she’s popular with the male fans. It’s good to know that no matter the incarnation, Sailor Mercury is still adorkable. And she still looks great in blue.

Sailor Mercury gave me no trouble at all this time around. How many times did it take me to draw her hands? ONCE! I was caught completely by surprise that her hands did not give me trouble. I was however surprised that her sailor suit went through a few changes. The collar has an extra stripe on it, and the shoulder pads were removed. She also wears more earrings when transformed, and it was difficult drawing those tiny circles on her tiny ears. They ended up having to be edited in Photoshop (not surprising, really). Her ribbons also seemed to be a different color, but this wasn’t really an issue. Screenshots seem to be a bit inconsistent on their colors. The screenshot I used only showed her upper body (during her In the Name of Mercury speech), with her new concept art modeling her legs and boots.
