Description UPDATE: .ico here: [link]

Ripped from the game, enlarged and 'cleaned up'.
Couldn't find any good Cave Story dock icons via Google so I threw this together.

Image is 320x340 PNG only,
Enjoy.

Sure you can, use it for whatever you please.
This is merely Pixel's original sprite-work made a bit bigger, I don't own any of it.

Okay so I just went and reworked the process and this is how I did it:
1. Paste the sprite into MSPaint, either Print Screen it in game or copy it from the sprite sheet.
2. Crop the image so that either the sprite itself touches the edges of the canvas or leave a single pixel gap, no gap means the sprite will appear bigger on docks however.
3. resize it by a factor of 500% vertically and horizontally, then again by a factor of 400%.
4. If it isn't already, make the background all one colour, though not a colour used on the sprite itself.
5. Save it as a PNG so Paint doesn't compress it.
6. Open it in gimp, Go Layer>Transparency>Add Alpha Channel
7. Use the select by colour tool to select the background, then delete it.

Et voila.

thanks for the instructions, they work great! now i can use this to rip pretty much any sprite i want to.
i'm on a mac so i used this MS Paint clone called Paintbrush and it works nicely for the resizing.

i ripped quote's sprite and threw together a quick orb-shaped type dock icon if you want to see it:

i gave you credit for helping me figure this out =]

Haha, you're welcome man.

The best way to stop the blurring I find is to save the file as a PNG after ripping it and to use a program like gimp over MSPaint to mess around with it. This'll stop the whole colour jumbling business, the edge blurring however I think I solved by resizing the image by a certain factor I can't remember anymore. :/
You can probably figure it out by comparing the size of each of my icons with their sizes on the sprite sheets.

If you're still having problems it's probably easiest to use a square brush the same size as a single pixel and recolour each one, including the pixels directly surounding the image before setting the background transparent.

btw how did you enlarge it without making it look fuzzy? when i tried ripping it myself and enlarging it it just comes out blurred
