Just finished this one as a pre-work warmup.
Oh, how I hate artblocks.
Anyway, here's yet another portrait of my DnD character, Yael. I think she's one of my best OCs so far, both design- and backstory-wise.
Commisions are open again, so if you'd like to see your own OC drawn by me, please let me know in a private message. Prices starts from 10$ for a black&white, single character drawing, and 15$ for colored portrait. I should be done with a single drawing within a week, give or take two days.

Thanks! Her backstory is kinda complicated, and involves one of the characters I painted before (the blond elf named Eleanna, she's her, uhm... previous incarnation, who was murdered by her husband, long story

I absolutely agree! I think the history is very interesting and it's cause for inspiration indeed ^^
And my character is an OC, a girl, and she's the first person of the group I've come up with. I'm still not sure where in my story I can fit her in so I haven't developed her in years. Needless to say, the quality of the art I have of her is.. well, to me now, very low. I wanted to give her an outfit with loads of beads and details, but I didn't know the first thing about clothing when I started her design, haha. So if you're still interested, here are some 5 year old pictures of her, hahaha. I really need to update the art of most of my characters, to be honest D:

Accorning to Brandon Sandersons advice, one the best ways to create a character is to take a person, give him/her an uncompletable task and see how he/she struggles : D And hey, five years is a long time, I'm sure that she, in a way, grew up with you. Maybe it's time to redesign her, even if that would be just for fun?

That sounds like a pretty good way to create a character indeed! I used to come up with new characters all the time, but I haven't really been able to lately. Maybe this is something I should give a go when I need a new one
And she's definitely ready for a redesign, haha. You're right about the growing up thing, I think. At the very least she's become different in my mind over the years, and I need to draw her to represent that image.

Maybe that's actually a good thing, that you didn't come up with any new characters lately? That means a good opportunity to work more on the old ones. That is not only a great redesign practice, but also good way to lear the routine in case of an artblock. But hey, any new idea is worth remembering, in case you need it later
