First of all, with the amount of exposure this guy got in the 90's I can't believe somebody doesn't know who he is--that would be like somebody not knowing who Green Arrow or Hawkman is. (I realize those guys are not top tier superheroes, so maybe that comparison is overly cautious.) Cable is a top-tier superhero, a franchise waiting to happen--just give Marvel some time.
That said, as already mentioned, the detail is great. What I like about this piece is the insignia showing from underneath the shoulder armor, the upper lip--classic Cable look. The natural slouchy feel of the pose that makes him look at home with a BIG GUN. (That's totally commonplace, right?)
The difficulty of working with lines and ink is that the background tends to merge with the foreground. Unfortunately, that is in full swing here. I can't really tell how big his head is supposed to be (because he has white hair), nor how much of the details are actually in the background or just doo-dads on his costume (because traditionally his armor/costume has a lot of techy doo-dads.) This would be alleviated by simple shading in pencils or by color. So this is a color-ready inking job, the way I see it, and a good one at that. One of the best fan-made Cable pieces on this site. Kudos!

Thanks for the comment and feedback on the inks. Indeed Cable has fallen from his pedestal that he was on back in the 90's. People don't even know who he is these days, the new Marvel fan/readers anyways. If you want to see the colors, they're here [link]
