Thank you. ♥ I am too. I was making a follow up piece, but I'm afraid I misplaced it. D : >

This is a really fine piece. After reading a few of the other comments I considered offering constructive criticism of the light and shadow and such, but the reality is; the work is absolutely successful just as it stands - a fantastical illustration of a mouse detective. The eyes are drawn to the subject quite effectively, and the textures are well rendered. The little guy's coat has such fine work it makes me want to reach into the picture to feel the fabric.

My god, this is so beautiful! Your skill at shading is amazing! 8D And this is one very realistic mouse 8D
Is the title by any chance a reference to a certain Disney movie? XD

xD Yeah, the original title didn't fit, so that one struck me. Sad thing is, I've never even seen most of the Great Mouse Detective.

I really adore the shading on his coat. And the detail on the twiggy plant in the front.
It's amazing.
And the floaty lights.
And that name.
Gilliander.
It's so cute. ;;
The only thing I'd say is don't be afraid of the darks when it comes to shading to really define objects or make them blend/contrast with the objects around. Like on the tree. I do like the detail there already, though!
But other than that, this is so lovely. DD:

you're wonderful owo
[critque]
I'm not sure I understand some elements of the background
ie the hedge
you cant tell where it ends and the sky? or whatever it is--begins. o3o would the gaps in the door have darkness behind them too?
it might benefit to make certain areas a little darker ( the wall for instance could be grayish) that would add to the feeling that it's dark out, and you could also give some of the lights more of a visible glow to them o3o keep the foreground nice and bright/contrasty though, because it reiterates the fact that it's, well, the foreground
fabulous as always <3 I really love this you can tell there's a story behind it and the mood/character is great~~ :3

The hedge (or maybe the wall, i'm not sure which is which to you : o ) is actually a tree, I know it's hard to tell, my mom said something about it too, I tried adding bark but it doesn't seem to have helped much. I originally wanted to keep it negative space and I still want it to stay white. Call me stubborn. xD
Light is supposed to be leaking from the door, I guess that's hard to tell too. D : I might go back and emphasize the lights some other way, maybe with some white paint or something, now that you mention it, they do look kind of not glowy. xD
♥ Thanks. : >

okay~
but, just reiterating--sometimes it's good to push things back some >w> and darkening the tree would both push it back in space, and give you a chance to show off that lighting...
even if you don't though, it's still a really nice piece, you stubborn stubbornfayse O: ♥

I'd be happy to answer that, I just have no idea what a concentration theme is. : o

Mm, my art teacher told me that there's a Breadth and the Concentration in a portfolio. The Breadth is just a bunch of pictures to show the variation of your skills and the Concentration is a series of a subject or theme that the artist researches and illustrates. x:
I'm always interested in people's Concentration theme because I'm already trying to think of what I could do in the future. xD;

I don't know. I'm an amateur at all things art related. We don't learn diddly squat in art class, and I'm not very deep at all. I don't think I have a theme. xD;
