Description Some of you have seen my pic 'Returning Persephone' and a couple of you guys out there requested for me to draw more Hades/Persephone. For those who don't know, in Greek Mythology Hades married his own niece Persephone, but if you want to get in more depth of it, Zeus, Persephone's father and brother to Hades, actually gave Hades permission to marry his daughter, so, without Persephone even knowing, Hades kidnaps her out of the blue. Some stories say he raped her, and they were married, yeah it's a weird story.
This is just a sketch, I don't know if I'll color it or not, but if you guys want to, be my guest. Oh yeah, on Persephone I didn't draw in her flower petal tiara, to tell you the truth, I thought that thing looked ridiculous on her, and I really can't picture Hades with her and that big flower tiara, so I just drawn her as simple as I could draw her. Hope you guys like the sketch!

I personally heard that lore had found an entrance to the underworld and she CHOSE to stay there
Zeus changed her name to persephone, chaos briner, because of the chaos caused before she left and the 6 month in Olympus and 6 months in the underworld because she had eaten 6 seeds of pomegranateΒ

The statue is called "Rape of Persephone" but in Latin, "Rapere" means "Abduction" so it might've been called "Abduction of Persephone"

Funny thing when you think about it, but Hades is the most faithful of the gods; I think the only time he ever strayed was with this nymph and Persephone put a stop to it pretty quickly (by turning the girl into the herb mint).

rapio which is a common translation to rape actually means to capture. So when you read the original translation they more likey used rapio, then turned into rape. She was a goddess wasn't she?

I don't think Hades ever raped her in the modern sense of the word.

Aww it's so sweet of Hades to comfort Persephone and feel concerned about her. Hades will always be by Persephone's side.

You did a fantastic job,DKCissner! A+ for you

In Drama at school, we actually did a little in class play of the tale of Hades and Persephone, to show our use of Tableaux, Choral Movement, etc.
I was Persephone's mother, Demeter xD it was really cool.
I think it's one of my favourite myths now, actually.

At first when I read the story of Hades abducting Persephone, I found it shocking at first (because I was so used to Disney's Hercules, Lord knows that film was WAY off!) but the ship grew on me, kind of makes me wonder how different the film would be if they had Persephone in the story, but I would bet the Disney Hades would be less hilarious if they had him married, but it's an interesting thought though.

Being a "Beyond the Sea" fan, I don't think it's unusual at all that you compared Hades and Persephone to Bobby and Sandra. It is very similar and very fitting. Especially that scene.

Oh I can imagine Hades and Persephone in bed, and he puts a sword between them. "I am laying down this sword between us. That's my side of the bed, and that's yours, and I will never cross over. Ever. I don't care if we don't touch for a thousand nights. Only you can cross over to my side. Only you."

Of course it'd have to be different since Bobby was talking about King Arthur's court and the middle ages, but still.

Awww!!! That's so sweet! Hahah! Of course Hades has to have a soft side, only one he doesn't like to show...
Between you and me; I agree about the tiara What you did looks so much better. As the Goddess of Spring I imagine her looking very innocent and delicate, just like you've portrayed her. Well done!

Thanks so much! Yeah, it is so rare that we see Hades' soft side, but then we wouldn't love his temperamental side! Anger management much Hades?

Yes, Hades raped her, but not in the way it sounds- 'rape' means to take away, to steal, it's not always sexual.

Great picture!!

I blame society and the news today on how they define rape, because when I hear that word I think sexual, but the way you defined it makes me feel a lot better! Thanks! Oh and glad you liked the pic!

Yeah, now a days when people say 'rape' it's sexual, when the actual meaning of the word has nothing to DO with sex. *shakes head*

I like all your drawings XD You are a wonderful artist.
