I am in love with Spock/Uhura from the new Star Trek film, it was just so unexpected that it worked out. Although when I watch the original series, being that there is no chemistry what so ever between Spock and Uhura, it's kind of weird to shift from the TV series to the film. Anyways, I'm starting to get into to Star Trek that I want to start drawing fanpics from it. Here is Uhura and Spock with a creature from a very famous Star Trek episode. Enjoy!Related content

And yes, Quinto was amazing as Spock, but I have to say, nobody does the role better than Nimoy
Man, it must have been intimidating for Quinto to work beside Nimoy, I wonder what the two felt working next to eachother playing the same character!

It would be so wierd acting as someone like Spock with the real Spock right across from you...but I've seen some interviews and they say that they just seem to click, you know?

Totally, hey have you seen the SNL episode where Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto guest starred on Weekend Update and they made jokes on how the obsessed Star Trek fans hated and threatened them for playing Shatner's and Nimoy's iconic roles, and then Nimoy made a surprise appearance saying that if you were a true Star Trek fan you would see the movie for fun, not to judge Pine and Quinto, and then he made a comment saying that Pine played Kirk as well as Shatner and when he mentioned Quinto, he made a joke that Quinto was good as Spock, but not as good as Nimoy, (it was a joke, but man the look on Quinto's face was hysterical!)

That would be spooky, although I did love this film! Saw it ont he plane going to my holiday, for us to land 10 mins before the very end! How irritating is that! I then had to fastforawrd it super fast on the way back!!

BTW, LOVE your icon! Yeah Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana were adorable as the new young Spock and Uhura, but nothing beats the original, Leonard Nimoy and Nichelle Nichols rock!

I got into the Star Trek universum with the new film too. So much trekker hate that film becaouse it isn't 'Star Trek-like' but I think it's a great opportunity to impress the younger generation too, and make them a Star Trek fan.

Poor Spock won't last long. A combination of Uhura's "puppy-dog pout" and the Tribble's cooing will make him crumble in record time.
I just hope Uhuru remembered to neuter the blasted thing or the crew will be hip-deep in cooing furballs by morning!

According to the back-story Roddenberry and Nichols originally created for Uhura, Spock was supposed to have been her mentor. "I created a relationship between Uhura and Spock as being her mentor and the person she looked up to. Uhura was the only one who could play the Vulcan lyre and the only one who had the audacity to sing a song teasing Spock." - Nichols in 2008.

The film has them being in a relationship for some time. It wasn't just because Spock and Kirk weren't friends.
kirk/uhura was never implied. Not when Kirk was with one woman after the other.
About the pic... it doesn't make any sense for Uhura to say it can be out baby.

It's suppose to be like pet talk, some couples I know have pets and they call them their baby, or like guys with cars, when something happens to their car they it their baby, get it? Pet talk?
Thanks for the information and the links, it's because of the new film that I am starting to watch the original series, I want to know as much as possible about the show so that if I make another fanart I don't want to be corrected by a Trekkie fan.

This is cute. And it sound slike something Spock would say. And I agree I totally dig their pairing in the new movie. I think they can get away with doing a ton of new stuff that wasn't in the series because of the whole alternate timeline thing. But anyway love this pic. You made them look so cute together.

Oh, also, I've seen plenty of places where it's been said that the Kirk/Uhura kiss in the original series was supposed to be between Spock/Uhura. I can't find the specific place where this is said though so it could just be a wide-spread rumor.

Oh yes I heard about that rumor also. I was watching an old TV special on youtube that was about the stars after Star Trek, William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols explained that in the episode, "Plato's Stepchildren" their characters were forced to kiss, which was also known as one of television's first interracial kiss. Nichelle confessed that in the original screenplay, the kiss was suppose to be between Spock and Uhura, but then it was changed to Kirk and Uhura. I was upset when I heard about that, (and this was after I saw the new Star Trek film). I saw the episode, it was cool but I wished they went with how it was originally planned.

Oooh, good to know where it was from! I wish it would have too. I heard they were hesitant over it since it was already interracial and something ridiculous about Spock being an alien.
I know Nimoy said he was jealous watching Zach/Zoe getting to have a relationship as Spock/Uhura since he never got to do it. Heh.

Actually I saw an interview of Leonard Nimoy about the film, the interviewer mentioned how he was kind of shocked when Spock/Uhura appeared on the film, Nimoy said that he had the same reaction, but he felt that they made it work, so he was surprised at first, but then he felt it made sense.
