Description Just a concept of my Cinderella in her rags.

I imagine that she washes her face like once a day and gets all the hand me down worn out clothes that she has to stitch up herself.

Probably the only new things in this picture here is the broom.

I'm also thinking of changing Cinderella's personalty. She sweat and gentle, but she's also a very sad and lonely person. She's someone who lost the gleam in her eyes a long time ago and is very unhappy. Her stepsisters and stepmother make her feel like she's a nobody and that she has no place.

My idea is that when the ball rolls around, her spirits start to rise at the chance of someone finally rescuing her from her loneliness.

What do ya'll think? do you like her design? Do you like her personality? Do you like the idea of the personality change and waiting for her Prince to come and save her?

I really like the thing tied around her shoulders and her top part of the outfit. Personality is nice too.

thanks. Her outfit kind of took a bit of a Marie Antoinette direction due to the silhouette, but I like it.

Just like her ball gown, I want to try out all kinds of styles even for her rags, but I really like the shawl thingy and the top part of her outfit as well. I also love the idea of over sized clogs.

I go in the order of what matters to me--

Holy crud, 12 comments today~ :'D

Comments matter to me the most, I love feedback. Journals are fun to read because other people are saying stuff that's interesting. Deviations are tied with journals, sometimes I look at them before journals. And then there's all the other crap-- like notices -_-

hehe congratz.

I love feedback as well. I like journals too, but I only reads the ones that I recognize. That's happened to me a few times as well.

Just yesterday, someone called me one of their idols. No one's ever said that to me and I felt to honored and overwhelmed at the same time.

Aw, poor girl! She looks so worn down. I liked your bubbly Cinderella, but I like this one too. I like your idea of having her personality change over the course of the story, I love it when characters develop. I'm not too keen on her waiting for someone to save her, since in real life you can't count on someone randomly saving you one day. I think it would make sense that she would dream of meeting someone who would take her away, but I'd like it if she was a bit more proactive and took things into her own hands.

djeffers In reply to Rovanna [2014-06-15 17:44:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, she's been through a lot, so naturally it changed her and she had no one there to tell her otherwise.

I don't think she's literally waiting someone to rescue her, but she's waiting for something to save her. She's not one to realize that she's in control of her life and feels trapped. She's got no where else to go, but to stay with her family... which is not a family at all. She's not waiting for a Prince, so I'm sorry if I implied that.

Oh I plan on having her take matters into her own hands, but she doesn't do that til love opens her eyes to what she realizes she deserves... which is better than being a slave to a spiteful and vindictive Stepmother and two selfish and bickering stepsisters.

I'm actually trying to think of something I can do the story that makes it different from the usual.

I really like how Disney's past few movies have really branched from the original text and I want to do that. Frozen's probably the best example I can give since it's so amazing, yet it turned out being merely loosely based on the original fairy tale.

I actually thought about Cinderella having a friend that would be her Princes Charming. I thought she could go to the ball and realize that it wasn't a Prince she wanted, but someone who loves her for her and not how pretty she is when she steps into a ball room.

I thought things like the magic ending at midnight and the slipper fitting elements could play out... differently.

How's all that sound? Nothing's official yet so I'm sorry if I'm being hypocritical or something.

Okay then, that sounds great! I like your ideas for her situation and personality, and I love the idea of her eventually realising that she deserves better.

Ooh, that's a wonderful idea having someone else besides the actual prince be her prince charming. I think that could be a really sweet twist to the story.

djeffers In reply to Rovanna [2014-06-16 00:51:06 +0000 UTC]

mhm. Yeah, I thought it could be one of those times where she has to learn that for herself since no one there is going to make her realize it.

Yeah. I'm either going to have her meet someone else, or meet the prince beforehand and grow a connection with the two.

Which one do you prefer?

Rovanna In reply to djeffers [2014-06-16 00:55:40 +0000 UTC]

I don't know which one I prefer. They both sound good, much better than just love at first sight. I suppose it depends if you want her to end up an actual princess, or simply to be her friend's 'princess'.

djeffers In reply to Rovanna [2014-06-16 01:20:04 +0000 UTC]

I kind of wanted her to end up as an actual Princess like the original, but just play it out differently, but the idea of a villager being her Prince could be interesting too.

Rovanna In reply to djeffers [2014-06-16 01:24:07 +0000 UTC]

Maybe she could meet the actual Prince then, but I like your idea of them somehow meeting before the ball.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

djeffers In reply to Rovanna [2014-06-16 01:29:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I want to build an actual relationship.

Oh and I had the idea of the Prince personally inviting Cinderella to the ball... but that might mess things up. I don't think he can know who she is at the ball, so I might not be able to do that.

I also thought that the ball could be a masque. that way it would make sense for the Prince to not be able to recognize Cinderella.

Rovanna In reply to djeffers [2014-06-16 01:33:54 +0000 UTC]

That's a great idea having a masked ball! It always seemed so silly that the Prince and her stepsisters wouldn't recognise her. Especially since the Prince was supposedly dancing with her all night.

IKR! Although I love that movie to death, it drove me crazy. Right!

One thing I love that Disney did is that Cinderella didn't know she was dancing with the Prince and thought he was just some random stranger.

Maybe Charming's a little short sighted.

Oh really? That is nice. I haven't seen that movie in a while.

djeffers In reply to Rovanna [2014-06-16 01:55:55 +0000 UTC]

lol maybe.

Actually, in the sequel that Disney did, they imply that the Prince would have been able to recognize Cinderella without the fancy gown. I think that the moment he spotted her, he recognized her.

Yeah, I just watched the movie 2 days ago and the sequel today.

Have you ever seen Cinderella 3 A Twist in Time?

Rovanna In reply to djeffers [2014-06-16 02:11:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, he did look like he recognised her when he saw her.

I'm not sure, I don't think so. I saw one thing which was like a collection of shorter cartoons. One was where one of the stepsisters falls in love with a baker, and that was pretty cute.

djeffers In reply to Rovanna [2014-06-16 02:22:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.

I highly recommend you do. It's my favorite Disney sequel to date and I also really like it as a movie as well.

It takes place a year after Cinderella fit the slipper and had her happily ever after. The Stepmother get's a hold of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother's wand and reverses time to have Anastasia fit the glass slipper instead of Cinderella. Cinderella with the help of Gus and Jaq must race against the clock and the Stepmother to get the Prince to remember her.

It's actually really good. Cinderella takes matters into her own hands and has some pretty brave moments especially near the end.

Aww thank you.

I think her heads a little big for her body, but I really like the design. I wanted to create somewhat of a mix match look that is anything but new.

I really like her face shape. I feel like it's different from what I usually do.

Thanks. I really like drawing clothes.

that's probably why I change stories so much. After designing the costumes and the characters, I run out of things to design.

But I would say that your not so bad yourself at drawing clothes. The picture you drew of Gwen her that fancy dress was GORGEOUS!

hehe thank you.

After thinking about it, I would imagine Cinderella to be a rather sad and lonely character.

I don't think she'll talk to animals, but she will definitely show them kindness. I imagine a possible scenes where she helps a bird or frees a few mice from a trap.
