North American cities are nice for photography, thanks to reflected lights and high buildings!

Thanks, Mary. It was cold, I had already walked a lot, I was ready to leave, but the sun came out, and I thought that there was something to do with that place.

Lucky indeed, it's a rare event when the sun comes out in Pittsburgh...

Wonderful! Somehow it looks surreal, and yet nothing surreal happens.

Thank you, Eric. What could be giving this impression is the reflected patchy light on the red building. I have other images from closer that really feel like a soft focus, while the full size image could show that the windows are in focus.

EricForFriends In reply to djailledie [2015-01-23 22:32:58 +0000 UTC]

It could be. But for me it's also in the chimney on the side of the building, and in the full-stride posture of the person walking away - it makes me think of expressionist paintings from the 1920s or so. I love how you placed, I'd probably would have tried to put in the middle, but the shaft of light on it while he's on the edge, makes it original and just right instead of too late.

You know I would not miss symmetry when symmetry is possible I tried to center it, but I had to move to capture the smoke properly.
