I found it disappointing when I finally saw it. That alone is a story. Back in high school, you could arrange for a van trip -- to the mall, to the theater, and such. I chose this film, but by that weekend it was already gone from the theater, replaced by Return of the Jedi. Everyone thought I was really on the ball, so they suddenly showed up and slapped me on the back for arranging the trip so quickly. It wasn't until the driver told me where we were going that I found out what had happened.
This is a very tough book to film. Nowadays, it would probably work better on TV. Some producers are becoming very adventurous, as with Legion -- a major departure from the usual.
