Description Friday night zen. Noasaurids are weird coyote-sized carnivores with long lean bodies, stumpy arms with a big range of motion, and front stabbing teeth that stick forward almost horizontally from the jaw. It's suggested that they chased after burrowing animals and used their arms to claw their way down to their prey.

Forgot to mention:

Apparently Masiakasaurus had ribs that could be compressed in tight spaces.

Nice to see this getting properly depicted. I've always found it a bit difficult to imagine how those small arms could've been used, but this shows it perfectly.

Thanks! It's a weird, almost flapping, motion that's described how the arms are used. Surely a terror for any small mammals or reptiles.

You're welcome!
Yeah, definitely.

I'm surprised noasaurs aren't more popular than they are, they're honestly just as weird as spinosaurids! They're just weird in a very different way.

Well I just heard of their digging/burrowing adaptations only a few days ago, so it must be new or unknown to many people. There are a ton of interesting plausible lifestyles if you dig deep enough into paleo-research! Come to think of it, some aquatic or basking spinosaurs would make a great upcoming drawing idea...

Iā€™m just curious, if these certain types of dinosaurs could actually burrow underground and eat smaller animals, than could it be possible that they survived the longest out of all of the other dinosaurs that went extinct by the K-T extinction

Sometimes I overlook the fact that exciting new hypotheses and ideas don't spread far beyond a small group of people. Even among paleontology enthusiasts, it seems like a lot of new stuff slips under the radar for the most part.

Basking spinosaurs are always nice. I've only seen a few.

There's actually a noasaur from Niger that actually hunted underground.
