Just a thought. I have always thought Luigi is awkward but a good heart character. He always try to help his brother no matter how scare he was or how dangerous were the situation. A really likeable character.

Well...I can say he's not necessarily awkward, but still very kind. Both brothers share a strong brotherly love and they care for each other. They also saved each other when something wrong happens, as shown particularly in the Mario & Luigi series.
