The Shaolin demon hunter Johnny Zang from my series STRIFE:

Backstory:

Growing up in Asia town Johnny Zang was the odd one out, always by himself looking off into space as if seeing something that no-one else could see. Overworked and with little time or energy to care for Johnny, his mother decided to let him do charitable work helping a monk fix up and take care of a local monastery. To repay the kindness the monk decided to train Johnny in an ancient form of Shaolin Kung Fu.

After observing for several weeks the monk realized that young Johnny had the ability to see and interact with the other side, a place of magic and mysticism invisible to most humans. The monk explained to Johnny that although this was a great gift, it came with a burden to not only help benevolent spirits in need but also to defend the world of the living against evil spirits looking to do harm.

Years passed with the monk instilling all the knowledge he could to Johnny, providing him with the abilities to protect the human world from those malevolent spirits who wish to corrupt it. Johnny will soon understand how great this responsibility truly is, when he learns that a demon lord of the other side is planning to invade the human realm and destroy his town.
