This simple work somehow illustrates so much emotion to me. It's an awesome piece.

oh i see, Kiwi connection, you were bound to stumble into my page sooner or later, (well, probably later) , 50% of the people i know in D/A who are kiwis spend 90% of the time stalking each others threads..

I love the colors and simplicity. You use PovRay's iridescence in this or something? It turned out well.

Low Detail Radiosity SpySphere is the bit that probably does all the goodness
other than that,
pigment{ colour rgbf <redvalue,greenvalue,bluevalue,0.9> }
finish{
reflection{
colour rgb <0.5,0.5,0.5>
}
}
interior{
ior 2
caustiscs 1
}

very nice. what program did you use to create the reflective spheres?

You know what, I was just looking at this and I reckon image-mapped faces would look awesome (as opposed to primitives for the objects). Good luck with this, looks awesome.

That's a good point, are you using a full texture block with pigment inside? I found occassionally that helped at least logically with complicated mapping and pigments and finishes.
That looks like a fairly wicked finish/pigment/texture you've got there.

yeah, the problem is the way pigment layering works... if i use a image map pigment it overrides the colour pigment, and vice versa...
the finish is really basic
each sphere is
difference{
sphere {
<0, 0, 0>, 0.5
}
sphere {
<0, 0, 0>, 0.45
}
texture{
pigment {
color rgbft <0.98431, 0.78824, 0.76078, 1,0>
}finish{
reflection{
color rgb <0.5,0.5,0.5>
}
}
}
interior{
ior 2
caustics 1
}
the resulting coolness is purely from the global spheremap i stuck on..
#declare sky6igment{
gradient y
color_map{
[0.0, Quartz]
[1.0, Navy]
}
}
sky_sphere {
pigment{ sky6 }
}

Yes, I know the joys of that one, hopefully you'll find a way with extra objects or otherwise.
Man, I love caustics.

might just have to cheat and stick it on another really thin shell layer >_>
