Description (full title: this the death of my heart)

I've been sitting on this for a while. It's trite and cliche, but it's also symbolic and important to/for me.

Aww. this is so real. Love the shading around the edges. Are you a nurse by any chance? You know, this makes me want to gently peel the gauze off and inspect the wound. hehe.. oh and the smells are wafting right back to me.

I am not a nurse, no. We just have various first aid supplies around the house.

It's funny that you mention the smells... I hadn't even thought of that aspect of the piece. That makes it that much more interesting.

Thanks for the comment!

The wound that is hidden is also being healed. There is a natural tendency to cover the injuries left upon us, both of our bodies and our spirit, and an equally compelling inclination to uncover them while they’re still sores. I suppose we have an innate knowledge of what harms us and how to alleviate that harm, but this doesn’t seem to prevent us from walking into harms way every chance that we get. What strange creatures.

I adore this one, it's perfect.

I can smell the fabric and the blood ... everything is so clinical, cynical, and real ..

im feeling kindda slow... so i cant put into words what im thinking but I really like this and lots of meaningful things are just sitting on the tip of my tongue

I was working with something and one of my hairs got stuck in between fat layers of oil pastels and I figured, in 100 years, they'll clone me using that hair and yeah, that'd be cool...

so I thought baout that when I saw this
kind of like retelling a broken heart

. . . and i don't think there'a anything trite or cliche about what you're expressing with these, you do it subtly and in a way that makes sense and is kind of sadly beautiful, where my response to such emotions is to beuncontained and to spill everything out in messy black and white.

i like this for it's subtlety.
almost as if the heart is embarrased about things
and tries it's best to blend in and pretend to be fine.
i guess that's how it usually works.

Sometimes things that are cliche are necessary. Cheesy things are often true and warrented. The basis for this piece may be cliche, but the method in which you carried it out is very you. I like it.

Cheers,

Art must be innovative, transgressive and challenging - Art is full of shit. Kitsch, on the other hand, is free to be what it wants to be. There is only good kitsch and bad kitsch.

This has meaning to you and and speaks to me as to what it is to be human. It is well designed and thoughtful. I think it's good.

Some guy hit his head on the curb outside my work last night and he was bleeding all over the place and refused medical attention. He just wanted to use the bathroom and then he left.

I like this a lot. It's very simple, but it strikes you. You'd definitely notice this hanging on a wall.

Doesn't feel cliche to me. I like it a lot. So this photo is documentation rather than the piece itself, right?

I like the idea and I think the guaze bandage itself looks good but this doesn't work for me as well as the other piece. I think it is because of the colours- it is largely white on white so it isn't very striking and doesn't have the impact of 'home'.

i don't think it's clichΓ©, but oh well.

i like how you can use mundane objects in your art. that's a cool thing.
