My aim from the start was to paint it completely black and white except for the eye ball. Fear is great, I wanted this piece to have a similar feel to the movie.

Theres something that bothers me about this, but I can't pin it.
Maybe a touch of red around the fleshy parts of the eye could have made it stand out more? Its pretty bold though, I like that about it. I see fear.

the greys and bright blue together are great, plus i like the way you placed the eye right at the very top instead of in the middle, makes it less typical, nice photorealism and detail, looks like a photograph

requiem for a dream was such a great movie....it had such a strong impact on me....and this painting sends those same chills down my spine....now i know that the movie's eye (jennifer connoly's i believe) was used on a lot of posters and stuff, but it actually didn't have the same emotional effect on me as your painting here does....

this strikes me as being 'the embodiment of fear'....i look at this and feel absolutely horrified....

the colours have a lot to do with that...but i think it's also because of the way you've depicted the eye....the blue is creepily simplistic...it doesn't have a lot of the tone variation that an actual eye has....which almost seemed like whatever they're looking at has literally scared the life out of them....

fantastic piece

Yes, totally agree. That particular blue is fantastic, unfortunately I have ran out, the tube is completely empty. I'll have to invest in some more soon. Can I have your shirt.

The shirt says, "Ditch Day, Can You Dig It?"

I love this painting. I love the colors! I'm not sure if this was intended, but.. the colors that were used in painting conjur oddly specific feelings. For instance, the pallid, grayish skin seems to convey fear, or that completely "drained/numb" feeling that a person can experience when they're in an unfamiliar situation.

Just thought I'd add a few bits of insight.
(I also enjoyed your other paintings, by the way!)
