Whether he's smirking or no, I cannot tell (although a big part me is telling me that he is), but there's something in this image that shows defeat at the same time mischief, which gives me a certain vibe of his guile. I think he is capable of the former anyway.
It's superb art, by the way, rather comic-like; and comics are awesome!

The Corinthian was always a magnificently nightmarish creation, this catches that nicely, almost subtly. (Not sure about the untextured overlay on the shirt)
