I would of tried to darken the sky more and got more red colour using curves personally, just think a shot like this would benefit with more 'mood'. Like it tho.

god, i love uk. nice pic. the reflection on the pic is a really nice touch. that bridge looks fantastic and the village all around it gives a nice feel to the pic. the sky has a great color and it seems like you took the pic at the right time.

Thanks. It wasn't quite that balanced - a bit has been cropped off the right. Yeah the timing was about right, only problem was I didnt have my tripod so its shot handheld with a high-ish ISO giving it more grain than I'd like!

Yeah it is, but its also more expensive so it would be! The 50D is out now though, so it should come down in price soon enough...

Yeah, lenses make a massive difference. I kinda wish Id spent less on the camera and more on a better lens, maybe got a 350 or 400D instead and a better quality standard zoom. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

It was £440 (£490 + £50 cashback)
Its all well and good giving the hindsight to people- people said that to me, kind of wish Id listened. Then again, I might not have been as happy with another camera. Who knows. I guess it mainly depends how quickly you want it and how patient you are. Eventually Ill get the money for some nice lenses then and will still have a more up to date camera, where as I wouldnt if I had a 350/400D...
If you have the money to spend on it, a 40D would be a better option since it will take you longer to outgrow it in terms of ability (technical and composition/artisic wise). Conversely, it will also be a bigger jump in terms of technicality and features from a point and shoot than an entry level like a 400,450,1000D or whatever. I still havent got to grips with all the features of my 450D!

That's not actually a bad price. I thought it would be in the £500 region or something.
Hmm... Very true.
I have... £1200. They're my life savings, and currently 40D costs about £800. That just leaves me with £400 to spend on lenses. =/
Very true. But in between learning, I can save up once again and once I've got the gist, jump in and get a decent lens.
It's massive isn't it? In terms of what you can do I mean.

You could get a decent lens with £400, one that wouldnt pull down the quality of the camera (like the kit lens probably will, I dont know what lens the 40D comes with). Only problem is, that maxes out your budget, and you need to remember there are loads of little things you dont think about- camera bag, memory cards, lens cloth, maybe a spare battery, and depending what you want to to maybe a tripod/flash guns. It all adds up!!

I don't get why they don't sell the camera separately. It would be cheaper, and we wouldn't have to be laboured down with a lens that isn't that good. =/
Very true. All these things. -.-
Still, it's fun. I'll just have to find the money from somewhere.

Hmm... I'll have to research into that. I'll probably just wait until the next new model comes out. Thanks a lot for everything by the way.
