ya know i think everyone thats seen pokemon weather they will admit it or not loves it.
i meen it was one of the first anime's in english in my genoration i meen i have like all the old cards and whatnot me and my friends used to and still watch it religiously XDXD

My friends and I have a huge Pokemon thing, it's actually really silly. On long bus rides or waiting around for stuff, we'll play Pokemon 20 questions. I DESTROYED them with Cloyster... it took a good 20 minutes or more for them to guess it... we don't actually count to 20... and one time on choir tour we walked around Banff singing the theme song.

lol. I used to believe my favorite (anime/manga) was Death Note/ Vampire Knight, but I've came to realize it may be Sailor Moon(the JAPANESE anime; I positively abhor the watered-down American version). 
and...Pokemon Heros remains the only movie ever to make me cry.

haha im wearing an FMA shirt right nao XD; though, whilst its up there on my favourites, if I had a chance to watch all the first pokemon episodes, i would prolly have a happygasm and never leave the TV until i watched them three times through xD not to mention i would invite my friends over, cause they'd all love to watch it too =3 (the old episodes are so much better than the new ones)
To your friends, I would just tell them what my favorite anime rly was. You shouldn't tell them things, just to appease them, because we're all entitled to our own opinion
