Another piece of fanart for The Fox and the Hound. To contrast with the cutesy and chill feel of the last one, here's one depicting the fight between Tod and Copper. It's a shame that there wasn't any real dialogue from adult!Copper during the climatic scenes in the game preserve. I would've loved to have seen Tod and Copper duke it out verbally before the latter goes in for the kill. It just felt like Tod was way too accepting of the fact that his childhood best friend wanted him dead, especially considering it was he who put up the most resistance to ending the friendship.

There wasn't any inkling of guilt or sadness from Tod (or Copper, for that matter) during these scenes and it made the 'twist' of him diving in and saving Copper from the bear feel like it shoehorned in at the last second. I would've also loved to have seen a tiniest hint of remorse mixed in with sarcasm from Copper as well, like lamenting on how they were once friends and then just turning into a dick and commenting that Tod was too stupid to see that he would kill him eventually. lol

As for the art style, I decided to go with the stylised theme that most battle scenes take on, partially to make it more exciting and partially to save time on animation (or, in my case, colouring and such). It came out looking OK, a bit more dramatic than it would've been if I'd gone to town on it. I also left out Copper's collar to make him appear more feral and because that bitch so hard to draw onto him.
