Description Sometimes I doodle when I'm supposed to be doing something else.

They all are caught in the middle of one long treacherous riddle. (I was obviously listening to 'The Riddle' from The Scarlet Pimpernel when I drew these guys.) I'm still not sure I picture Marguerite properly yet though, it's difficult for some reason. And I really can't help but draw Chauvelin in a way that makes you feel kind of sorry for him.

Oh my gosh, I love this SONG!!!!

Whose your favorite cast for the this song? The first or the second?

DetectiveMel In reply to Tarnisis [2012-05-23 20:49:03 +0000 UTC]

I like elements of both! But the second, probably, I really like the way Rex Smith sings some of those songs. How about you?

I love Terrance Mann, but in The Scarlet Pimpernel I perfer Rex Smith. His voice is perfect for the role of Chauvilin. (I know I'm not spelling that right. But I haven't the foggiest idea how to spell it. )

I absolutely melt when Rex Smith sings, Where's the Girl. It makes my heart do funny things.

It's funny cos when he (Rex Smith) acted the role he sometimes came across a little too sharp and angry. Chauvelin isn't really quite as shouty, imo. But yeah, the way he sings Where's the Girl... his voice is perfect for it.

There are some parts where he doesn't fit. And he does yell, doesn't he?

I ADORE Where's the Girl. It's one of my favorites.

I. WANT. THAT. HAT. Actually Marguerite's costumes were making me go crazy with costume jealousy or something. SO COOL.

lol Their outfits at the ball were making my head explode with detail. And I love Marie for being a costume designer!

Yeah mine was about to explode too. I even really loved her getup right at the beginning for Storybook (that pink wig thing was immense)

When I properly know who the characters are, I will know what you're talking about because I just started this book! But you're right about Chauvelin. XD He still looks great, though!

DetectiveMel In reply to DarthPooky [2009-01-17 23:17:08 +0000 UTC]

Ah, fun! It's not a long book at all. Let me know what you think when you've finished!

And thanks. I can't help it, I just like him so much (and I'm usually not one to side with the 'baddies' ).

DarthPooky In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-17 23:43:38 +0000 UTC]

I definitely will! I've heard mixed opinions on Chauevelin, but I will reserve judgment until I've read the book. XD

DetectiveMel In reply to DarthPooky [2009-01-18 02:00:22 +0000 UTC]

He's a lot more of a strictly bad guy in the book (but I still kind of liked him). I think to some extent I prefer most of the adaptations that played on the love-triangle thing. And I usually don't care at all for love triangles.

DarthPooky In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-18 02:47:40 +0000 UTC]

I'm not much of a love-triangle person either, but this character sounds really interesting. I really need to finish it now. >.<

omg I recognized Marguerite! We're watching that movie at school, unfortunately not the musical version, though, and it's the first time I've seen it. Good job on this!

Which movie version are you watching? I've liked - for different reasons - all the adaptations I've seen so far.

elavoria In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-17 22:32:35 +0000 UTC]

It's the 1982 version. I love the guy who plays Percy; he's amazing!

DetectiveMel In reply to elavoria [2009-01-17 23:13:05 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that's the one with Ian McKellen, yes? He's actually adorable in that film.
And yeah, Anthony Andrews is great, he does the foppish thing so well, and the voice he puts on makes me laugh.

elavoria In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-18 00:48:43 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that's the one. I can't sympathize with Chauvelin that much; I think he's a jerk.

He acts so silly sometimes!

Aw D: He's so cute, though.

elavoria In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-18 03:42:08 +0000 UTC]

Meh... I guess he's just fighting for what he believes in, can't argue with that. *shrug*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DetectiveMel In reply to elavoria [2009-01-18 03:50:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, okay! I know he's kind of unpleasant. And a murderer. But there's something really tragic about his character I think. But to each their own! Percy is still awesome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

elavoria In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-18 03:55:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I think he's tragic, too - I mean, he's doing what he thinks is right, but he doesn't get the girl he loves. I don't know; I should probably finish the movie first!

Anthony Andrews. Love that man.
My favorite version of the Pimpernel story, outside the book, of course. And what? I didn't know there was a musical . . .

DetectiveMel In reply to elavoria [2009-01-18 04:02:25 +0000 UTC]

Okay, in the movie I just think Ian McKellen is cute. There's no other reason for my liking Chauvelin in that film, it is rather shallow I admit

I understand completely! I don't know if I'd like/sympathize with Javert half as much if I didn't like Philip Quast. xD
