I did, and it's great! really.
but I always told you that I love your abstracts (maybe because I'm not wise enough to understand your collages.. )

ok. it's only the half true... I love your minimal collages very much!

derkert In reply to iram [2011-03-05 11:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Some of my collages are quite conceptual and sometimes the gestaltung (there is no good word for it english I think) is a bit lacking. More fun than art maybe. I am happy you like my black and white abstracts – my girlfriend dont! Bo ho.

You dont have be smart to like my collages, they are many times quite stupid (and maybe even intellectual)

Thanks for all kind words! I think we have sonething in commonn, we seem to try out differnt ways of expression. To be it is about learning, and unlearning. Digging deep into PS.

I find your deapth in your abstracts, and it fascinates me.

I do believe there is a certain way to "read" collages and many times I'm lack of this capability - I don't "speak" this language... I do like collages when they deal with colors and shapes, but I'm a bit death when it comes to the added words and hidden messages...

I understand. I feel like I am more than one artist, abstract, minimalistic, verbal, ironic, stupid, intelligent, gross and even delicate. I dont believe in style. I just go where my pictures take me. Thanks Il – for our latest convesations.

(smile) yes, I feel preety much the same regarding me (more than one artist),
although I can't say as much regarding irony, stupidity, gross and even sense of humor...
it's symply too violently for me... but I think it's my fault -
therefore I'm fascinated to the powerful combination of these contrasts in people like you

Oh I am quite kind in real life though! Can have a biting tongue though, mostly because things do tend to just hip out of my mouth. But when it goes wrong I usually beg forgiveness!

Interesting that you use the word Violence – never heard that before. Yes it is a sort of clash art.

But your pictures are not always "pretty", sometimes they do seem to carry a big bag of dark shadows.

I got a T-shirt with a quote from Macbeath on it: Something wicked comes this way!

iram In reply to derkert [2011-03-10 12:15:44 +0000 UTC]

(smile) well, of course irony and cynicism ARE violence... even if not directly - it's smart and witty/ poignant and wicked weapon to hit without physical aggressiveness... I suffered a lot from that kind of "treatment" as a child....

I know you're a kind person

yes, my pictures are not always "pretty", and they do carry a big bag of dark shadows I believe most of us does, isn't it?

Hm – That was interesting to hear. And sad too. Irony is an special case when it comes to communicating. I have been accused of using it. I have had to defend myself. Straightness have usually been the canon. Well who can argue about that. But some things cant be expressed straight. Life is complicated, society is complicated, human beings are complicated. We dont know that much about our selves – to always be straight and single minded. Some people think a lot before they speak their minds. I dont; I talk our of my head. I might not always be straight, but I dont censor myself, So I might be more true than other people. And sometimes I have ask forgiveness!

Language have different layers – even when I speak there is a part or me that responds to form, rhythm and melody.

Some people use irony to make people feel insecure, not knowing what to respond to. That is mean. And it is not acceptable to treat children that way. But people who are in power or think they are better than everybody else. Those I have no bad conscience "hitting" with a little irony.

Oh this is a big issue for me I think! I stop now. Dont want to bore you!

Take care il.

hmmm.. speaking directly is completely different thing - I appreciate directness and honesty, the worst case of it can be the lack of tact and some other bullshits like politically correct and other social "nice" speaking cods... I appreciate directness when it comes from good reasons and not in order to hurt.

but irony and cynicism or sarcasm are violent because of their SUBTEXTS which remain open to wicked interpretation... it's the OPPOSIT of speaking directly!... and the punch (subtext) hit you below your belt (or in other words - at your soft belly)... when it happens to me (when people talk to me like this) - I'm so hurt, that I can't find my words...

but that's in life. another story in art. irony and cynicism and sarcasm are powerful tools of criticism and making a point...
there are refined ways to do it (sophistication, humor and so on). when it's done brutally or vulgarly - it's purely violence.

ok. it's late... must go to sleep
see ya

With irony you can say two things in the same time. Like metaphors.

These verbal expressions sure confuse people outside of the lingual context of the specific language. The meaning lies below the letter level. You need the context and some imagniation to figure out what the speaker really means.

These figures of speech does not have to be mean. Or be meant to hurt.

Some people I know – I seem to hurt them ( I think of one person mainly) all the time, they are "over sensative" and dont get my "jokes". I try to think of it, but then I go again bubbling over....
But then she is hurt not only by me!

(smile) well, that's completely different thing... people who chose to be hurt doesn't need special figures of speech in order to be hurt...
