Revenge of the sinister six is my all time favorite run too! That series got me into comics. So many cool ideas in that. I loved the movable cast issue with Death Lok. SO SICK!
I have to say this is my Fav piece of the bunch! Can I buy the original of this one?!

Spidey's had such a good run of artists. The Romitas (Sr & Jr) pretty much own that character for me. And of course McFarlane breathed a lot of life and style into him too.
But yeah, Larsen definitely made Spidey into a true comic book yarn. Over the top action, drama, and comedy. Probably why I enjoy him just as much on Savage Dragon.

I think w/o McFarlane, people wouldn't have pushed the acrobatic/crazy web slinging style of Spider-Man...something that made him even MORE iconic, if that's possible. So yes I definitely agree with you there. I have to admit that I don't think I've read any JRSR issues (scandal!). I should jump on that.

*oof*
He also doesn't look like a bumbling oaf. I was nver a fan of Fat Doc Ock. I loved the creepiness of Ramos's one though, I loved how he drew the tentacles.

Yeah...never liked the green spandex one. And yes, Ramos' was creeper to the max.

And yet it was always the one used. I used to have Spiderman top trumps and thats how I found out about him.
Jenkins and Ramos's run is my fav as they were such asy to get into stories. I can't read comics like Batman or Spiderman as they are dogged by the continuity. Only contained stories like Long Halloween or the Green Goblin the pair did, have I enjoyed reading.
I read the Ultimate universe for a while, and I admit, I got bored. Invincible is the only superhero comic I've stuck with.
Sorry complete tangent.

No, I completely agree. I have a really hard time getting into continuing series with a lot of back issues. And, like you, I really only like the self contained OGN's of those characters. And I think that's why Ramos and Jenkin's run is so good to me...each arc followed a different villain.
I too LOOOVE Invincible, but I've also been following it since the beginning, so I'm not lost on anything that goes on in THAT book. But even old comics were good at letting new readers know what was going on with character dialog, editors notes and cheesy expository narration...something books now fail to do, thus alienating new readers.
Whatever though...

Awesome!
I really dug Larsen's run, but I'm partial to when JR. Sr. was drawing Spidey... nostalgia for my childhood perhaps.

Haha. Not THAT old...I guess I didn't realize the years JRSR was drawing Spidey. I am 30 and didn't start reading until I was 9 (1989).

Oh, yeah, he was drawing it in the late 60s and early 70s. My cousin gave me a stack of ASM when I was like 4 (I no longer have them) and I later saw reprints. And the guys drawing in the late 70s when I subscribed were continuing that JRSR style.
I like a lot of different artist' takes on Spidey, but there's something I love about JRSR's stuff.
