I really loved the movie, though I did feel that some of the charm of Clark Kent vs. Kal-El had been left out - it was my initial hope that the second movie would concentrate more on this aspect of Superman - but alas no we just have to be saddled with batfleckman *sigh*
That being said I think Henry Cavhil is the optimal choice for the role and that the action sequenses are among the best I've ever seen on screen.

Nice work, man, really nice work--took me a few minutes to work out I wasn't looking at a photograph, so you've done fantastic work here!
As for the film... I felt it was pretty much perfect until the last fight with Zod. I think that scene, especially what Supes did to Zod, was actually so bad it betrayed the very legacy of Superman, and the film should have ended waayyy sooner than that with all the bad guys being pulled into the phantom zone.

Well Superman has killed before so what do you mean?
Superman killed Zod in the Superman 2 film with Chris Reeve.
Superman killed Zod and Zod's helpers in the comics.
Superman killed Doomsday in the comics as well as Metallo.
Just sayin'
Plus,Superman always feels bad when he is forced to kill. In the film he was highly distraught. Not to mention that we saw Superman on his first day of being Super. Give the kid a break.Β

Doomsday was a mindless brute. I have a problem with those Chris Reeve Superman films as well for those deaths since they were completely unnecessary, and as for those helpers being killed by Superman, I have been able to find absolutely no information for that, when was that and could you send me a link to some form of evidence?
My main problem with the film is that Supes just doesn't seem to remotely care about all those civilians he himself flattened into paste when he crashes through the various buildings (we even SEE that happen). In the comics, almost every time there's a major supervillain battle, he tries to take the whole thing out of major populated areas instead of killing hundreds of people, and he doesn't even try that once in this film, not once does he seem to stop and consider what he's doing.
And no, it isn't his first time "being super", he's been using his powers his whole life, this is just his first superpowered battle, and really not off to a particularly good start.

Doomsday was a mindless brute yes but he was a living thing. Superman had no other choice and he had to whack the big man out.
What I mean by "Zod's helpers" was his second and thried in command. Their names were Zaora and Quex-Ul. It was The Adventures Of Superman #444 and Superman #21 and 22, "The Supergirl Saga". Superman killed all 3 of them after they had murdered something like 6 billion people.
I read the "man of steel official novelization" right after seeing the film and Superman most certianly didnt cause the death of any human. The book explains how many people evacuated or were hiding in various subways, basements or bunkers. Of course some people were killed but it wasnt because of Superman. Also in the book, every thought Superman has is about "the poor innocent people." He cares deeply. He even hopes to be able to spare Zod,he didnt want to kill anyone.
In the MOS film,Superman fought Zod in the midwest in Smallville and there was still major damage. When 2 gods are fighting it wont matter where the battle takes place.
Also,it's a comic book movie. We see Supes fight in Metroplis all the time in the comics including in a recent New 52 story. Snyder is much more comic book than mr realism Chris Nolan.
Superman never flew before that day, never took up the mantle of Superman. He was just Clark who happened to do a few good deeds. He wasnt Superman until that day.
Comic book killings
Superman killed Mr. Mxyzptlk in Action Comics #583. Supes ripped his body in half with the phantom zone projector.
Superman killed Darkseid along with Batman and the Flash at the end of the Final Crisis thing.
Superman kills a pilot and an infantryman in Action Comics #2, when he fights against a South American country.
*Superman fighting agaisnt the Japanese and Nazi's was WW2 propoganda and he simply swatted planes away frequently.
But anyway Superman has killed a few times when pushed to an extreme.

Yeah i saw how bulked up he got, not saying he was not in shape but there's no way his abs showed through the costume like that.
"The Superman suit is made up of separate layers. Thereβs an under-layer of sculpted detail mounted onto a bodysuit. Over the top of this we stretched a thin mesh over-suit that is printed with a dimensional chain-mail texture."

He must have forgot to take his abs back when they borrowed the costume for display maxcdn.fooyoh.com/files/attachβ¦Β

No doubt Cavill was huge. But we dont know how they display the costumes. Of course it has abs when they display it because they want it to look good. Dont the use a manikin or something?
Anyway Cavill was like 215-220 pounds I heard. That's big. Same weight as Mike Tyson was when he became champion.

Yeah they display it on a mannequin but the costume itself has enhanced features, for Man of Steel this costume had 3 layers, one of which they said was some padding. I'm sure they padded the abs to make them stand out and airbrushing like they do with the Spider-Man costumes all to give them those comic book looking muscles.
Brandon Routh got up to about that weight also but the costume he had was terrible. I'm hoping for Batman they get away from that heavy "armor" look they did in The Dark Knight and do something more like Man of Steel but no texture.

But we do agree that CavillΒ was very much a Man Of Steel who certainly put in the work to look the part?
Brandon Routh wasn't bad but he just has a very different build. Nothing against him but he has a very womanly body. I know he's a big guy but the way he carries muscle is very much like a swimmer whereas Cavill looks like he was designed to smash things.
it's a man crush I have on Cavill. My apologies.
Yes I agree on Batman. The jigsaw looking puzzle costume was kinda ridiculous. I would like to see the classic black and grey like in the comic books represented on film in some way.

Yeah man. I would like to see classic comic Batman costume so badly and I would even like to get Robin. A little kid beating ass would be awesome.
I guess Supes and Bats wont get along at first and then they'll gain each other's respect or whatever. I wonder how much Frank Miller's stories will be used. I even heard Snyder met with Frank and spoke about the Superman/Batman movie!
Can't wait!
