Description My 2 main characters from the World of Warcraft fan-fiction (which has yet to be fully written ),Aaren and his 'currently unrevealed' love.
Nothing else to say, except that I was so lazy to color this all this time (it's finished for about 3 months),that I abandoned what I've colored of it along with the Gostlands background that I made from a screenshot.I'll upload the lineart in my scraps folder, later, if anybody wants to try and color it.

Mediums: 2B pencil, 0.05 liner and PS for change of line color and adding the texture.
Texture from:

This is truy a superb piece of art, it's very clean and detailed, moreover your expressions look great. (his helmet droping is very fun to look at )

The surprise on Aaren's face and the girl's affection shows maybe a long waited reunion or their love confession.

A very good work indeed, even without colors i dare say it's your best work till now. If you update the lineart maybe i will color it, but first i must buy a new mouse @_@

Thank you
I'm glad that I've captured the right expressions, they've been a headache Well, you know that his helmet was the last thing I added to the drawing, because I felt something was missing, and because in my mind the story clearly states that his helmet is dropping at the time she jumps in his arms

You've guessed it right from your first try They really meet after a long long time of being torn apart, but shhh,I won't give you anymore spoilers

I'll update the lineart tomorrow,I think,I've got to modify it abit, not to give too much problems I hear you on the mouse issue, mine has started to act up too

Gahh, you've made me want so much to finish writing the story or at least half of the first chapter, but I promise I'll try writing at least one quarter of the first chapter tomorrow

I love the lineart because it is so clean. If you have time and energy pls consider coloring it. I am not a WOW fan but I do like that type of characters since I am kind crazy about Diablo. Great work

Thank you.
Well at first it wasn't so clean,I had to work with the pencil lineart, but since I received my own scanner for my birthday I've made a copy, finelined it,cleaned it and scanned it
Even if you say you aren't a WoW fan,if you like Diablo,I think you'd like WoW too,if not for the game,at least for the lore,I simply love it

You are welcome Yep, the characters from WoW are cool! I am also working on the lineart but I usually do it by hand since I don't have a printer that might save me time to copy from the original sketch. Well, I guess it will make things easier when I finally get to switch from traditional to digital. I've heard that Coral Painter is easier to use on sketches.

I copy the lineart by hand too, because my pencil lineart is always so messy that I can't copy it by printer.Digital media may be easier, but I sincerely prefer traditional media because it always has that extra charm I don't know if Corel is all that easier to create sketches (I've only used it once for 5 min),but if that's what others recommend it might be true.

The traditional art is all about skill, the real deal. You can't edit much when the color is on. Digital art is more like a method to reach the ultimate perfection but with a slight taste of cheating. Nothing is meant to be so perfect but well, if I get to see and collect the best pieces I don't complainI know many professional artist here started with traditional art. I admire more those who can do the on paper but those only use digital tools are good too. I will never give up on improving the old-fashioned skill but still need to catch up the modern world. It goes too fast forward sometimes...Anyways, I wish you good luck on coloring it if you have ever considered it

It's a pity you didn't colour this. Especially the empty eyes of the one character really should be filled, so that it looks a bit more complete at least. But the outline itself is very detailed where the outfits are concerned, which looks pretty cool.

Thanks.Well, you're pretty much right,I made it while having in mind that I'll colour it when it's finished, but I got annoyed because I couldn't find the right colours for both of them. His eyes are somewhat empty, the only colour they have is a bright emerald-green that glows.I'll give it another try at colouring ^^

Well, if you colour by computer you can try out some different versions ^^

I could, but I described his armor as being golden in my written pages of the fanfic and, since she's a *major spoiler* warlock, she's mostly stuck at having to wear dark colours (purple or violet, black, dark blues and greens and semi-dark red/crimson).And that there's my problem

Well, being a fanartist for Saint Seiya, I can sympathise with you about golden armour! XD

But then, why don't you just try it? If you colour via computer, you don't have to fear ruining your lineart. You can always delete the file if you don't like it. Moreover, if you don't try it and practise, you can get better at the things you don't manage to do right now.

If you look at my gallery, you can see that my first attempts to colour gold were really poor. But I think I got better by now - and so you can do it, too!

Yup. I have found my own way to colour gold, too (as you might have seen from my Milo pic), but still I think I can use some of StormFedeR's tips, too.

Yep.I think you should make your own tutorial on colouring + gold colouring too.I'm really curious how you do things

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

stayka In reply to Demon-Spirit [2009-09-05 00:25:42 +0000 UTC]

Hm. True. I have never thought about making a tutorial ^^ I wonder if I could manage to make it understandable

By the way, I used the exactly same brown colour both for the shades and the highlights - only for the shades I used Multiply Layers and for the highlights Divide Layers. ^^
