Description the whole panoramic thing was bugging me. (see previos deviation) i cleaned this one up a little more in photoshop, got rid of some of the graininess. i was worried that it would take away from the overall mood of the picture, but i dont think it did. i dont know- im counting on some of you commenting & letting me know what you think

It's really great to see minimalism in nature. I love that reflection and the trees, it gives me a better feeling of what the scene is like for some reason.

Nice photo, I like it! It really makes you feel cold just by looking at it, which I guess is a good thing for this type of photo to do.
Have you heard of Bloc Party? It kind of reminds me of the cover to Silent Alarm.

It's beautiful.. the shot conveys so much emotion, especially with the title. I love the monotonic sky, and the horizon once again almost seems like it's drawn.. quite a beautiful shot.

I think I like this one better. Overall it's only a matter of personal opinion/taste; some people probably like the panoramic version better. Can't quite put my finger on what it is that I like about this one more though... It's breath-taking, that's for sure!

I think I see why you wanted to crop it (wanting the trees on a corner). What you might want to look into in terms of perspective is getting a lens with shift.

i make do with the equipment i have. unfortunately, my digital camera is not the best, as we've already discussed. id love to have a lens with shift to somehow adapt to my digital camera, but i dont know how possible that is.

I had a look at the previous picture where you had cropped it in a panoramic format. I think I like this version better. It seems more quiet and relaxed to me. In the other one the trees seem to be somehow restricted, there's not enough sky to let them "breathe"... And for me this version has a much more kind of minimalistic touch, which I like very much. I really love the quiteness and peace in this one...

I love the balance you have achieved in this... the light grey sky vs white ground could easily have unbalanced the whole image, as could have the strong trees. But the strong sense of line in the river and treeline acts to decisively put everything in its rightful place. However, I think the border is slightly overbearing. Maybe giving it a thicker white boundry and reduce the size of the black section will lift the image. Keep up the great work!

thank you im terrible at borders- never seem to have the 'right' one, hahaha.

Hehe... there is never a 'right' one. Some work better than others and can really help lift the image. But that requires time, playing around with colours, sizes, etc and time tends to be in short supply. Personally, Ive decided to stick a formula of 1 pixel of a darkish colour from the image + 40 pixels of black on all sides of an image that is 800 pixels wide. Maybe try making the borders a little thicker for the next photo
