Materials: 100% Holbein Watercolors (no acrylics at ALL), and 11"x15" Canson Watercolor Paper 140#

So this is my first completed watercolor picture with Holbein watercolors. First of all, I just want to say that if you are thinking about upgrading your paints from "student grade" to professional, DO! Student grade is fine if you are getting used to watercolors, but once you start using professional grade watercolors...using watercolors gets waaaaay easier.

The things that stood out to me:
1. Next to no color shift. Color shift is when your paint appears darker when wet, but when it's dry it is lighter. Cotmans have some colorshift you get used to, and have to fix later after it has dried. Holbein's saves me a step.

2. Easier color lifting. This was a big thing for me when I was in the beginning stages with watercolor with the lighter layers and would make a mistake or go too dark. Holbein would lift and show the white of the paper, whereas cottmans leave a slight stain behind that you have to work with to hide or alter. This doesnt apply to heavier layers of pigment, then again I was working on semi crappy paper (will be updating that when I'm done with this pad of paper).

3. Very concentrated pigments. Yes Cotmas are very concentrated as well, but to get the pastel colors I want in the beginning stages, I probably had to add more water than I normally would to get them. ^^ Hahaha

Sooo in short, it's been a good experiment. Hope you enjoyed it!

Still working on Chibiusa. Finally found my bottle of Frisket UNDER my desk, so hopefully I'll get her done in the next couple of days. No promises tho!
