So very cute -- though I've always been under the impression that even the Captain's cabin in a ship during that time wouldn't be much bigger than a walk-in closet (but maybe I'm wrong and they're not in Sibrand's ship).

it is. that's why the regular crew is forced to sleep in small rooms with hammocks stacked on top of eachother or on deck. and the 1st officer has a teeny tiny stateroom. enough for a bed and his trunk.
