phew... i guess ive never done cityscapes before.. so heres one
Cities are hard to paint!Done in Photoshop CS2.
Took me about 3-4h.
Wacom used.
No reference pics used.

its just the style of the architect who made them... ehem... (me)
just trying out something new.. never before seen.. interesting shapes in unusual places.
The main big ring is a tourist spot and you can get to the top. maybe theres a restaurant there.. or a little hotel..

If you think that's an awful painting, you need to get your head checked. That is an incredible painting, even after I compared it to all of your other works! You are an amazing artist, and you shouldn't let anybody, including yourself, tell you otherwise.

But i think i can judge myself however i like.. because i see soo much guys even younger than me who make same progress in some months what i had to do in like 5 years.. and thats super depressing. In this competitive world - only the strongest survive. :/

dont worry.. as the 15 year old masters demotivate me frompainting, they also boost my motivation to paint more. thats why (i think) ive been doing more longer sessions lately..

That seems almost a poetic reference to growing old. As you become more experienced and jaded,the brilliance of imagination begins to fade.
As a matter of fact, I happen to like some of your cliche box buildings.
If you don't like it though. try thinking outside of the box. XD

yeah.. nowadays i make less works.. and try to think of the concepts a bit more.. designs. and so on.. But actually that's kinda bad.. because before i did more speedpaintings and quick sketches, thus rapidly developing and stimulating my mind and for it to think about different designs..

insparation is a funny thing. For me, I only feel like drawing when Im in contact with childhood friends. if for whatever reason we don't talk in a while, I just cant draw.

As i said to kheng, the ring is a, as you see, gigantic architectural structure that is the main design feature in this city. It actually is a giant hotel. the higher the room, the more it costs and the better view you get out the window.

yea.. its very fun when you design stuff and you get carried away sometimes, then you start to think of how the thing your designing is working, the 3d-form of it, hidden parts..
I have though this city from all directions and angles, you see just the 50% of it, the other 50% is underground. as you see, the ring is not complete. 30% of it is underground
damn.. i got carried away again..

Artists are most of the time going for dark sunset or sunrise settings, I rarely see 'midday' paintings and such, you pulled this off amazingly.

really? i have seen all kinds of possible lighting conditions..
or wait.. ah, i see.. the thing is that its soo easy to just paint the silhouette of the city in front of a sunset.. many new artists use that simple technique

yea... actually.. i did the moon thats on top right in just few seconds!! i know its hard to believe, but i just made a round selection, picked an airbrush, picked random texture for it and made a few strokes! thats all.. its a very powerful technique
