Description Underworld Enemy #14: Lanmola

"A gigantic centipede. Attacking his head won't work. Boy! Does he move fast!"

-The Legend of Zelda Manual

Though Ganon's pupils were taught well, they were never able to surpass their master's twisted talents, always being outdone and outperformed on any subject or skill. One of Ganon's lessons was to show his followers the dark art of augmenting animals and other organisms, changing creatures' sizes, appearances and temperaments to many varying degrees. The budding sorcerers employed this skill often, using it to alter and mutate such things as bats, slime-molds and earthworms. Ganon's lesson example resulted in the creation of the Lanmola, a monstrosity much more powerful and resilient than the similarly proportioned Moldorm. Transformed from a common centipede, the cyclopic Lanmola is the largest creature at Ganon's disposal, and only a scant few of them exist. Residing exclusively in Ganon's own fortress, the giant arthropods are adept at traveling in pitch-black conditions, their enlarged solitary eyes acting like lanterns and their many legs allowing for extraordinarily fast travel on any surface. Among being the largest creatures in the underworld, they are also the most heavily armored, with their underbelly being the only area vulnerable to attack. The Lanmola's serrated mandibles, their double-barbed tails and their intimidating length and speed can often disorient an attacker, making a run-in with one of them very difficult and intense.

Seriously, everytime i imagine Link fighting this is the Medusa scene of 1981 Clash of Titans with the characters replaced.

You'd HATE the "Sewer Centipedes" in Dark Souls 3, if you haven't played that yet....I'm hooked!

I've only played a little of Dark Souls 1, and loved what little I did, even though its difficulty presents an extreme learning curve!

Those bastards actually startled me when the first appeared in the last dungeon (the blue ones anyway), wonder if they intended for them to be a previous boss like the Patra (flying eyes) since they make that noise too, but then just went with the Gleeloks with more heads. Now I'm just picturing Link running away tossing some shoes aside as he tried to beat the hyper fast blue one.    Great job

Yeah! They're among the weirdest looking enemies in the game, so I've always liked 'em a lot! Patra's my next entry actually (and the final enemy before the next section)!

Thanks as always!
