Yeah, when I was younger I was just developing stuff like characters. Now I'm going to be working on arcs/main story/etc. I really don't want to start the project until I'm confident in my art skills. I want to find a base style and work with that, since I want this to be a comic.

Well just keep practicing. I'm confident in your abilities to improve! If you want a good tip that helped me in finding a solid marketable style, I'd say take some figure and portraiture drawing classes. It will help you with anatomy and weight which are very important! within 3 months you wont even recognize your own work any more!
