I got inspired by *SilentReaper 's contest when you'll draw a shinigami. Soo, I drew this death gods. It's my entry... yeah. ^^'''
My sister, helped me a lot with this pic, so I'm really thankful to her. She was the one who colored their dresses/cloaks (or whatever). You go Amanda!

Every human has a life light , you could say the soul, buried inside their bodies. But when they die these lights become visible to the shinigamis. So when the human is about to die the shinigami appears in front of them and take their life light by lighting the death god's candle. In other words, they take the human's soul.
The light from the life light is normally transparent but when the person dies the light grows dark and it gives a red light.

The shinigamis are said beautiful but cold, they have no general feelings. They don't have a gender, they both look like men and women.
They almost always were a mask to hide their faces, but sometimes they take them of when they are "reaping". Though, you still can't see their whole face because they're covering it with bandage, but one eye is always uncovered. The colors of the eyes change from shinigami to shinigami and is about the only thing that can tell them apart from each other.
