before the cockatrice was revealed in "stare master," my bro and i were thinking, basilisk? gorgon? nope. we were both wrong, but he challenged me to design a gorgon/medusa pony anyway. the tail being comprised of snake tails was his idea, as was the green-on-green color scheme.her cutie mark is supposed to be the shield of perseus.

ah twilight would need some enchanted sunglasses to prevent herself from becoming stone. Only fluttershy is immune to the effect because of her stare.
I can imagine Maredusa's cave exterior would have lots of pony statues frozen in stone.
