feather hardening
a hybrid quirk, which combines the ability to harden their body and the mutation of being born with wings.

characteristics
shion can only harden the feathers of the wings. and her wings are still undeveloped and not big enough to support her weight for flight.
also because of the wing size, her skills are limited, halfway developed and lacks power. but this also means there is great potential for further growth.
in a way to adapt to the fuse of the two inherited quirks and to the way it is used, her organism accelerated the healing process of her wings, and the feathers are the only part of her body that has a fast regeneration. after using her abilities, the feathers are back after 24 hours. if overused it may take over 3 days to heal and the feathers to grow back.

NEEDLE

a simple ability where shion plucks then throws the hardened feather's at her opponent.
at doing this, she can cut, and little by little harm more and more the enemy. this skill doesn't do great harm right off the bat, it needs to be repeated consecutively. it also serves to distract the opponent, taking their attention off from other things and making them focus on her.
it's a good skill for support and group battle.

cooldown | limitations
throwing the hardened feather means plucking off from her own wings. unfortunately this causes strain on her body, and if constantly used can cause blood loss leading to mild anemia. since it is a self-harming skill, can only be used as a quick diversion. after it's plucked out and the feather loses connection with her body it becomes just a common harmless plume. after plucking the feather they only stay hard as steel for 10 seconds, this is just enough time to throw it at the opponent.

NEEDLE BLAST

shion hardens a bunch of feathers at once then with the wings open, flaps it forcefully in the direction of the opponent. when hardening, the feathers becomes a little loose and because of the frantic flapping it easily comes off. the hardened feather flies off in the direction of the enemy, harming them with deep and shallow cuts randomly. with a good aim, it can cause high damage.

cooldown | limitations
since shion's wings are still too small for her, this can cause her to get cut too when flapping the wings. to diminish the self-harming issue, the body she uses is custom requested to be of resistent fiber. but it still is cloth, so cannot prevent 100% her getting cut by her own ability. since she needs to flap frantically, this takes up energy and shion gets tired more easily using this skill. cannot use consecutively, and only two to three times a day, if she goes up more that three times it may cause blood loss and mild anemia. her accuracy is something still to be desired, so depending on the situation her aim may be off and not harm all that much as it was desired.

COMPASS

shion makes all the feathers of her wings harden all at once, making the wings look like two blades.
combining this with the custom spring-cat-boots, she jumps right into the opponent, all the while twirling in the air with both wings open.
the impulsion with the boots and the twirling allows shion to cut the opponent as many times she keeps turning in the air. since this skill uses her body weight for impact, it also means more damage on the opponent.

cooldown | limitations
twirling means shion loses at least half the awareness of her surrounding, leaving her vulnerable to other opponents or unexpected attacks.
because of this, can only be used when the opponent is distracted enough or inattentive. this is an ability unsuited for solo battle/attack.
cannot use this consecutively either, one because once the opponent see he ability they will be more on guard than before, and second because hardening all the feathers at once and turning non-stop drains a lot of energy and makes her light-headed/dizzy.

F I E L D A T T I R E

since there is many limitations, shion requested her combat suit to be customized so it could support her in various ways.
the body is made of resistent fiber, so it protects her skin. this is mostly for protection from her own skills rather than from enemy attacks.
her spring-cat-boots are made so she can jump high and/or have a stronger dash. it weighs at least 5kls each boot.
the cat-ears is a communication device. this helps her to contact allies quicker, or to pass on information faster.
her cat-gloves have sharp nails that helps her with quick close-range attacks.
the cat-tail is a chain belt. in case she is unable to use her wings for any reason, she uses it for quick misleading attacks. the belt can't harm that much but it helps her buy time and/or run-away in a last case scenario.

B A C K G R O U N D

childhood
shion was born in a loving family. being an only child, she was raised with as much love she could ever get. this is mostly the reason she grew to be so bright and affectionate. her parents had good jobs, having good remuneration, and being an upper middle class family, they devoted as much time and money as they could with their first child. they had good times, going to amusement parks, zoos, traveling as much as they could to as many places as possible. but, unfortunately it wasnt always like that. shion was born with a small bald chicken wings which was a mutation quirk inherited from her father. obviously, that was not an issue to an eighteen inches baby, not until she started to grow. the feathers grew just fine and normally, but the difference in size between her wings and her body started to show itself around her third to fourth year of age, and this started to worry her parents.

in a consultation with one of the many doctors they had visited after months of trying to find out what was wrong with their baby girl, this doctor brought a hypothesis about her mutation type quirk; maybe this was not all about it. of course the doctor was unable to say anything concrete beside what he had examined on the child, but seeing as the mutation was exactly the same as the father's, but was not growing to be of the exact same use, there could be a deeper reason as to why the wings were taking double the time to grow. the doctor soothed the parents in telling them shion still had time to develop her quirk, and that there may be more; they were told to be patient and to not rush things. development and growth always flows differently form one individual to another, and shion still had enough time to develop her's fully.

there was not much occurences until shion's sixth year or life. it was then she started to show small and thin cuts all over her body, but mostly on her back. for the first week that these symptoms started do show, her parents were unable to locate the reason as to why she was getting so many injuries on her body, so they were back to see a doctor. from what he could analyze, it was a side effect, or some kind of manifestation from her quirk that was developing. there was no concrete evidence though, seeing as shion didn't have control over it and couldn't put it to work by her own free will. the recommendation was that for the time being, they should use protection on shion's back, and see her behavior and her wings changes from then on. this solution worked and they kept seeing how these changes would affect shion and after some time all cuts disappeared and there was no more changes from then on.

adolescence
the family was still unconscious of what changes had manifested on shion until she turned twelve. by that time all the necessary growth on her body had already occurred, but she didn't have any control over it, nor was she aware what those implied in her life. she developed a tremendous admiration for heroes who helped people without asking anything in return, and her dream was to one day become a hero who helped everyone, but with her small useless wings shion had believed until then that she wouldn't be able to and had thought it was impossible for her. both parents encouraged her as best they could, they both had the same dream when younger, but they couldn't pursue them for many reasons, but this didn't mean their daughter couldn't. but even though her parents supported her so much, unfortunately shion was too weak-willed to try her dream without any concrete evidence she could make it.

but this and everything else changed in one afternoon, when coming back from school. shion calmly walked down the next street from her house, crossed the road and entered a convenience store, thinking of buying something to drink and her favorite monthly magazine that had just been released, before going home. there was not much going on around, and she was the only customer, until two guys entered the store. she didn't think too much about it and just kept scanning the book shelf trying to find the one she was searching for, until she heard a loud shout, a scream and someone putting their arms around her and holding her forcefully in place. shion was so shocked that she was unable to do absolutely nothing other than shake in fear and surprise. she saw the attendant that was at the counter, with both arms raised and a frightened pale face at the sight of the blade pointed at her.

Shion was frightened, she had never thought she would be in such a situation. she looked over at the counter, but the robber who held the weapon had a hood covering his face, which protected him from being recognized or have his face seen. the she looked over at the attendant, and when she saw the girl crying from fright, frozen in place even thought the guy was yelling at her to move and open the cashier so he could take the money, something inside her snapped and that was enough for her to muster the courage she needed to save the girl. that's right, shion wasn't thinking of saving herself, she wanted to save the one who needed most, and that's what moved her into action. she felt her blood boil from adrenaline when she started to struggle within the arms of the guy who was holding her in place, but of course, he wouldn't let her break free so easily.

he gripped her throat from where he was behind her, and threatened her to stay quiet or else she wouldn't get out of this safely, but shion was half-listening what he was saying, because she was hearing something buzz in her ear and feeling something burn at her back. next thing she knew, there was blood on the ground, and the guy that had held her was on the ground agonizing in pain over something on his torso. she didn't understand what had just happened, and was extremely confused, she looked around and could only see shock on the girl's face, and the guy who had the knife on his hand had shifted his attention over to her. he looked wary, had a tense stance and then shion was unsure what to do to scape this situation alive, she was sure the guy would launch at her at any second.

but then the girl snapped from her trance and quickly took something that looked like a bat from under the counter and hit the guy on the head really hard. next thing shion knew, she was inside a police car, wrapped into something that looked like a blanket with a officer sat beside her. some time later, she was brought to a police station together with the girl from the store, and both waited inside a small room, together with the female officer who accompanied shion in the car. the officer tried to talk with shion, but she was too static to utter a word, the attendant girl did the talking and told the officer everything she could remember. after some time of waiting, shion's mom and dad came rushing to take her, both looked really worried and distressed with the situation and to know how their girl was. the moment shion saw them, she run to their arms and cried her eyes out on her mother's arm.

that was the moment when all the fear came crashing down and she understood what had happened back then. she had been in a situation of life or death, she had used her quirk for the first time, she had hurt someone for the first time, she tried helping someone for the first time. it was too much for her, and she needed time to process everything. she told it all to her parents, and they both listened intently, but also reprimanded her for acting harshly in such a situation. she should have never struggled against someone armed, she could have lost her life there and then. that was also when she understood she could do much more; she could make her dream true and help even more people, do more and more from then on. she wanted to show the world she was a splendid hero and that she would do anything to be recognized by everything and everyone.

early academy life
ever since the incident, out of fear for what kind of mental damage may have been done to their child, shion's parents made her have psychological therapy. of course this helped a lot for her to understand better herself and know how to deal with the changes in her body. this also made her realize how over-protected she was by her parents. she decided it was time to be stronger and pursue what was important for her by her own will, and stop hiding behind the safety or her family's warmth. she started looking forward to her future as a pro-hero, and what made all the most worth it was discovering how to use her quirk by free will. it seemed what was holding and biding her abilities down was her low self-esteem and lack of strong will power, purely psychological issues. after the explosion she had in that incident, the shackles she put on herself became loose, and it became easier to break free and evolve.

and so she started pursuing what she wanted the most. she studied a lot, worked really hard in quirk control training at a private gym she asked her father to let her commute to, trained her body to build stamina and continued studying non-stop. she put all her mind into all her training, all so she could pass the hardest exam at the most prestigious private school of Japan. shion was a good daughter, and was a good student, always did what her parents and teachers told her and always finished her homework properly. unfortunately she wasn't the most talented of her school, but was the one who worked the hardest. she had always been average and had never put the effort to be the best but now she always was on top of the class, and this helped her get recommendation from her teachers, who adored and admired her a lot. it was now or never to become what she wanted the most, and shion prefered to be now, rather than let her life pass over her eyes and live with regrets by the end.
