Description Lawrence Ferlinghetti, gotham books in nyc, jun third I think...

I shot this while I was waiting in line for him to sign my copy of coney island of the mind

My mom and a guy I work with, Dan, were there too. According to Dan, my mom saved Ferlinghetti's life. They were taking the elevator to go up to the second floor, and she jumped in front of the elevator door to stop it from hitting Ferlinghetti and saved him from potentaly very serious injuries, he is 86 years old.

----

I put this under photomanipulation bc the original photo looks so different... its a medium size jpeg and I forgot to change the wb (its awfully yellow/red), extremely noisy. it looks horrible not that this looks that much better, but I wanted to keep this photo, and thats what I ended up with...

I quite like the noise--I think it makes the photo look quite artistic. Lovely composition and framing.

great shot, i like that framing.

and manipulation does not mean anything here, cause it's a great shot anyway.

it looks like infrared film

Nice image. I'd personally say that it's survived it's colo(u)r balance issues -> B&W conversion pretty well - the resultant portrait works well, even if the composition feels a little odd.

Hmm... the old always have so much more interesting faces than the young.

its a strong portrait, very nice.. i don't understand the effect very well.. seems like a lot of the texture is softened away which is almost a shame... especially in the veins on his temple and the hairs of his beard.

oh, pardon me.. i just read the description well that's terribly unfortunate about the original quality.. i guess there isn't much you can do then. still a very nice portrait.
