It makes a very dramatic point. Historians tend to call this generation, "the age of anxiety" and boy do I really feel its presence here. Its really a slice of my psychic resonance some times. Nice job, very relatable piece

The pattern of the blood on his face is so striking; with the extreme closeup/sharpness of the image it looks almost grotesque and visceral the way it isn't the stylized "drip" or "streak" or "splatter", but mottled in puddles on his skin and pores.
I saw some comments on how the blood doesn't look quite "real" on if he were splashed with it, but to me, it looks like the blood is coming from within, like he's sweating blood. So, in that interpretation, I think the title fits perfectly, as if he can no longer suppress an inner turmoil that is seeping out to the surface.

The pattern of blood here really bugs me. Having taken blood spatter courses before for my forensics degree, the blood on his face doesn't make sense. Did he have blood thrown on his face? Or was he close to someone who was shot with a shotgun? This coverage of the face seems highly unrealistic.
Did he have his eyes open when the blood hit him? If he did have them open (which he likely wouldn't because it is a natural reflex to close our eyes when something is coming towards them) that would have been incredibly painful, in which case, he would have rubbed his eyes. The pattern on his face, however, does not indicate this. Also, the line around his hairline is too perfect. he also seems to have avoided getting any blood on his neck except for a dribble from his chin.
I'm not buying his expression either. It looks to me that he's resigned if anything. Assuming that you meant for the 'in distress' part to refer to him.
I don't mean to rag on you but I took a look at your gallery and you have other pictures that you did a better job on the blood. Just wondering why this one seems to be less accurate than the others.
I do like the focus of the photo and the shadows are really nice looking. I like the crop too, it's nice seeing only part of his face. I would argue that he (or someone shorter than him) is holding the gun because otherwise, the gun would be at an angle closer to 90 degrees.
Anyway, congrats on the DD, you have a nice gallery

Maybe I'm just not good at this, but I rather like the blood. I don't think it looks fake oO I thought it looked quite realistic, though some people seem to think otherwise. In any case, very intense. Congrats on the DD!

To be completely honest, I'm not really digging this. The blood looks too faked. There's a sort of pattern too it and it doesn't hit the eyes or even the hairline. It doesn't scream 'distress' at me, with his expression being more serene than distressed. And the light on the face versus something darker, as I'm sure the intention was, doesn't exactly help. Just my two cents.

incredible. really, really incredible. The way I interpret it is that this guy is just sick of abuse and stuff (represented by the blood all over his face) and he just wants to end it. and that's absolutely...it's stunning.

I think you went a bit crazy on the blood there for a while. But it is a good picture.
I like your avatar, it's a triquetra right? I love those things, hehe.

Not sure what your trying to get across here, but I kind of accumulated some sort of vision of him being held at gunpoint How the blood got on him previously, I'm not sure |D And I have to agree with some others, the blood looks incredibly sponged on and fake In some areas it looks wonderful, like the lips, but in others it's either not there, the eyelids and face outline. However, I enjoyed the crispness of his face in accordance to the gun. Overall I'd day it's a pretty decent picture, though, after looking through your gallery, I see some much better pictures involving blood

I know! I was surprised I got a DD at all, but more surprised it wasn't maybe Draw Near The Ice. That one is considerably more realistic.
