Β That's why i ALWAYS created a thief as main character in Dragon Age RPGs ...

Haha I always create a rogue first too. Every game since Baldur's Gate and those early chests that I couldn't open otherwise. Unacceptable!

In this regard, the game is literally punishing you for not being a rouge.

Well, you can take the time and level Zevran so he learns, but it would have been nice if he had a basic idea of picking locks when you get him. Still, I normally play rogue the first time around, because what if there are chests I need to open before I get my rogue companion?? (there almost always is)

That's my point. There is ALWAYS a chest to unlock before you get your rogue companion. And the chest just sits there taunting you about it. (Or is that just me and my insanity going into full gear again?)

Like that chest next to where you first meet Alister. Β And it's good stuff in their too.

You can get that one open with Daveth after he join.. either before or after Wilds.. and all rogues have Basic understanding on open locks, tho only those very easy ones, even without that actual skill..

i like leliana so never had much understanding for zevran...

Ddriana In reply to Mishai [2014-05-31 09:57:31 +0000 UTC]
You can like both of them? But yeah, if you drag Leliana around you don't really need Zevran to learn to pick locks too. Even so. He's a bloody liar.

And if it's bolted down, you try to force it free anyway... I've decided to try to play a warrior the first time I play DA3. To try to get past my looting problem XD

So have I. I played pro-mages, sarcastic players in DAO and DA2, first a rogue then a mage, and so in DA3 I plan to play a pro-chantry serious warrior. It must be done.

Haha fair enough. I think... a blood mage to mess things up for my second round. Or a rogue. My first round is always 'go in blind, try to do what seems best at the time', and the second 'go in, do the opposite' which usually translates to 'leave everyone worse off'.

My first time is always "Do whatever the hell you want, but act like a prick" and my second and third times are like you just said. Though I just love acting like a prick.

In every single RPG (or any of game that has lock picking, dispelling, decryption, ect) where I cam across a chest or box that I couldnt get to cuz my skills wherent high enough I felt no greater rage then that. Thats why about 80% of all my play throws are rogue, the other 20% is mage, I NEVER play as a warrior for that very reason.

Ddriana In reply to ApolloNight [2012-11-30 21:32:20 +0000 UTC]
Oh I am the same. The first time I play any game, it's ALWAYS as a rogue or the equivalent. I need to be able to loot. Skyrim is a horrible trap, as I drag around nearly a ton of loot, refusing to leave anything behind. I... may have a problem XD

It's so true. I hated having to choose Liliana just to be able to open locks. In fact there were times I decided that I didn't need whatever was in those locked chests, just so I could bring Zevran instead.

Ddriana In reply to Gaspode5 [2012-05-05 12:50:47 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... I play rogues the first playthrough though, so I managed to get around it the first time. The second time I was a warrior. Let's just say that Zevran died a lot, on account of having to put a lot of time and effort in learning to pick those locks...

He,I thought so,too, but my favourite Let's Player told me how it really works: when you want to pick a lock, they take your cunning-skill and subduct 10 points. When your cunning-level is high enough, there is no need for the picking lock skill, because it will only add 10 points to your cunning in the first so that it's like they'd just take your real cunning-level.When you upgrade "picking locks" to lvl 2,they will add 10 points, and so on.So it will just increase your cunning-skill,and with enough points it's not necessary ;D Hope I was able to explain it right, because English isn't my mother tongue and so on ;D

I hate leaving loot behind, too ;D It's like "oh my gosh there could be something interesting in it!" and then "oh..." like(he,little advertising^^) in the comic I made ;D I think it all started in Neverwinter Nights where you could find useful things in chests standing around^^ By the way(more advertising, hope you can excuse it ;D ) I know a good guide to skill a two-weapon-rogue,but it's german so I don't know if it could help you or not ;D
