Description Just a crazy little idea for
To go towards his "Buggin' Out" Art Jam thingee...
Depicting my characters as they might look as insects.

It seems Danbuster, Frederick and Spencer have discovered some very interesting insect specimens...

Edit: Added "Buggin' Out" logo.

Well, top marks on correctly guessing the insect species!

Yeah, as you see, the terms of Mark's Art Jam was the draw an OC as a bug or insect of some sort... the best reason I could think of was to have insect counterparts...

Ah, and the coloured eyes has always been part of my style for years... I think it came from the fact that when I look at the eyes on real animals, they seem to be either black beads (which is usually just very dark irises) or just all colour with little or no white to be seen...

Anyway, thanks for the critique!

Spencer: Hey, put that swatter down! These bugs are our counterparts! You can't hurt THEM!

*nod* I understand, but still theres going to be rooms for improvement ya know? Also to answer Spencer's comment, I was going to put it away before someone gets hurt!

Well, hopefully something good will come along during the year, if I can only stop procrastinating...

Spencer: Ah, well that's all right, then!

I intend to!
On the other hand, Dad also suggests I "do something useful" today contrary to my own plans... it's always the way!
My own plans will probably have priority, though...

Well, this something was going towards a job I'm doing for a friend we know from church - trying to organise a website for an eShop he hopes to start.
Because we invited him over for dinner tonight, so we could discuss things (we needed Dad's help for a few technical points that I don't understand myself)
As it turns out, today was one of those days where a lot of stuff happened and I barely had time to cram in doing the bulk of the scene I was doing for the Flash cartoon AND the beginning to a webpage template...

"Exterior, Danbuster's house, rear of premises and garden, autumn, day" - that's the opening establishing shot... and I hope to complete this Flash cartoon before the year ends at the very latest... but preferably before the year is half-gone!
But now, I also have the added deadline of doing the barebones webpages for our friend too, within the week.

What kind of bug is Bug Fredrick? A pinching bug?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-29 13:51:16 +0000 UTC]

A stag beetle. I was thinking in terms of a strong and hardy fellow.

I think "pinchin' bug' is just a generic term and not an actual insect.Β

I guess so... I'm not so up on insects as I am with mammals and birds...

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-29 17:46:46 +0000 UTC]

I don't think most people, at least hereΒ are aware that "polecat" is is just a wild ferret. Ferrets are just domesticated polecats.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-30 00:39:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, I release ferrets are the domesticated variety of polecat.
Just that in Frederick's case, he developed great physical strength from being raised by otters...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-30 00:49:25 +0000 UTC]

But then Black-footed ferrets aren't domesticated.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-30 01:39:14 +0000 UTC]

Ah well, Frederick is just a plain sable ferret, when it comes to that. He's hardly a savage character...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-30 01:39:51 +0000 UTC]

How'd he come to be adopted by otters?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-30 01:46:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's part of his backstory, really.
His mother was a single ferret who apparently got into trouble with some rake who only stayed the one night... and disappeared. So she was alone when she had Frederick, passing away after giving birth. As providence had it, the orphaned kit was discovered by Todd Wilkinson, a fatherly otter who was wandering along the river on a day off from his job as a barge captain. He and Willow did the only decent thing they could and adopted him, as well as making arrangements for the dead mother (whose identity remains a mystery)
To Frederick, Todd & Willow Wilkinson and their own cubs Cedar, Cedric and Freda are the only family he has ever known and he has always been happy with them, even though there is that slight tinge of regret that he may never know who his real parents were.

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-30 01:47:58 +0000 UTC]

I was adopted for real. Have no real desire to know who my biological parents were.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-30 02:04:55 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see.
Yeah, as I say, Frederick has only ever known life with, first the Wilkinsons, and then living with Danbuster as joint owners of the hare's house. So he's ultimately happy.
The only side-effect of knowing his true origin is that he's a strongly moral ferret, not wanting to make the same mistakes. For this reason, he and Felicity are in agreement that they will marry before they ever have sex...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-30 02:14:46 +0000 UTC]

That is a very good reason to wait.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-30 16:06:55 +0000 UTC]

Indeed... as much as Frederick and Felicity love each other, they at least have more self-control than Spencer does with Jenny...

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-30 16:11:45 +0000 UTC]

I get that too..and K.M. will probably still pester them to adopt Gina and Tommy...two rat kits she rescued.

DCLeadboot In reply to RensMeerkat [2018-01-30 16:43:50 +0000 UTC]

Heh, well... if Spencer and Jenny start producing kids of their own, Dan and Fred are already going to have a full house...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RensMeerkat In reply to DCLeadboot [2018-01-30 16:46:00 +0000 UTC]

But Tommy and Gina are just two and they're well behaved.
