I think the proportions look good, and you can certainly tell who it is. You have some very nice subtle value changes going on here. Perhaps a value almost as dark as her hair in the background might give the piece more contrast and cover up those grid lines at the same time!

You did a good drawing here. I find my frustrations with my drawings after I scanned it or taking a picture. I usually have to edit my drawings by darkening them. My newest drawing that I submitted yesterday was too large for my scanner and took a picture of it, and the flash lightened up my drawing. It's hard to determine what to do. My new drawing looks a lot better in real life though.

what i do before i take a picture is to look at it through the camera lens...if it looks okay then ill take a picture if not ill know what to change...its best if you dont use flash and take the picture in day light ...however mypics arnt really that great anyway...
