Description My second try at tabs for Finder's background, I guess some people would like to have these.
I've included a PSD you can make your own.

command+click or right click inside a finder window and choose "Show View Options"
keyboard shortcut: command+j

once the View Options window opens at the bottom you can choose a background: white, color or picture

In almost any folder's view options (command+J) you can apply a color or a picture to the background.

the only limitation that I know of is with fat32 formatted drives
