I really like this. The simplicity is perfect - any more and it wouldn't be nearly as intersting. That vivid orange against the black spider really draws the eye. It was a bold choice with an excellent payoff! Not to mention that your spider is definitely staring at the viewer. It's like he is weighing whether the effort of attacking is worth the meal!
