Description Alot of artists coming up dont realize how much work must be put in w/studyubg,,,..studying from life especially. This type of work is not always the most fun nor the most glamorous but remains the most important in terms of fundamental knowledge...so figured I would post some of my field sketches

siamangs are so much fun to watch, but loud! the large throat-pouch gives them a vocal range of about 2 miles or more. the gibbons at the zoo were loud too when I was studying them for Primate Behavior class.

btw, awesome sketches!

I think more artists should do this. It gives so much insight. That is truely awesome of you.

I love doing observational drawings at the zoo. I went there just a week ago. Well, the detroit zoo, so. . . :/

horray on studies. artists forget that you just have to be a simple "artist" before you go drawing "style" or being too specific with your work and such.

I try to do real life studies out and about when I can, but my biggest problem is I'm not fast enough to capture the gesture and look of an unwilling subject (like afrollicking cat, or a person at Borders)

They change positions and suddenly I'm getting my proportions all screwed up.

You're right. Life drawing of people, animals and things is very important when it comes to improving your drawing.

These are pretty cool, by the way.

I second that. It's amazing to have that kind of resource to go to

Do you bring your laptop there or sketchbook?

I'm so shy about drawing in public places. It really holds me back, I need to get over it.. xD

Come on... you didn't go to the LA zoo for those...
Tell me the truth. You were visiting Atlanta right?

I swear I dated her once. She was from Pooler Georgia. I swear!
