A beautiful warm light. How long does a typical en plein air take you?

Thank you. This little painting took about 90 minutes to complete.

Really gorgeous yellow light to everything here, very nice harmonies.

Capturing the light is the most challenging and satisfying part of painting en plein air. It's very rewarding when it's appreciated by another artist, thank you for your kind comments.

Best, David

Thank you very much! Sometimes a painting seems to paint itself; this was one of those delightful times.

Yes, the atmosphere in this artwork is so warm and welcoming.
"sometimes a painting seems to paint itself" I sort of know the feeling, sometimes I'll get that when I'm drawing. However, I can't really say that I've experienced that with painting, seeing as I'm hopeless with paints. I really do admire painters for their patience and skill

I looked at your gallery and you are on your way to becoming an artist. When we try to learn how to do something on our own, more times than not we end up terribly frustrated. It is actually not very hard to learn to paint with oils. If you can find an instructor near you that paints at a professional level they can show you how. It only takes a few weeks to get the fundamentals. In my beginning oil painting class for instance, my students acquire the basics with only 18 hours of instruction. Go for it and have fun.

My gallery? Oh dear. There's nothing too great in there at the moment I haven't submitted anything in ages, been in a bit of an 'art block' mood, actually.
So that's why I've been thinking about taking art classes, recently. There's an art school in my area offering a massive range of classes. I think I'll do one in the coming Christmas holidays
So you're an art teacher? ...oh, yes, I think your deviantID answers that question, lol
Anyways, thank you for the encouragement!
