Fed up of eating two separate courses for dinner? davecheesefish Labs is looking out for you. While these may not quite be as small as the meal pills those old futuristic cartoons promised us, they fulfil all the major food groups - cake, and bacon.It's a basic chocolate cupcake recipe with added chocolate (and unsmoked bacon) chips, topped with chocolate buttercream and pieces of candied smoky bacon. It was low in cholesterol since the cake's only made with egg white, but then I chucked a load of bacon in it.
The two at the back are the very limited-edition vegetarian bacon cupcakes, containing 0% bacon and thus not actually having anything to do with bacon at all.
They got mixed reactions from test subjects, ranging from high praise to not-spitting-it-out-but-staying-rather-quiet. No test subjects went back for seconds, apart from the vegetarian version. Bacon would probably be better mixed with chocolate then cut into custom choco-bacon chips to avoid sharp bacony edges.
Experiment conclusion: Cake and bacon should probably continue to be served separately.

I dunno. Some places have managed to perfect a recipe. I think it involves using maple flavors and having the bacon as topping only.

I think it could've worked, but the bacon I used inside the cupcakes was really thin and almost tasteless.
One recipe I found said to make your own bacon/chocolate chips by melting the chocolate and adding the bacon then setting it and chopping it up, but I was using up leftovers and didn't have enough chocolate.

...So, for the next trial, get better bacon. Because the concept has worked elsewhere; you just need to make it work for you.
