The way that you made the armor plating in all the right places to over any weak points is outstanding down to the frontal shielding on the launchers themselves. The smokey background doubles as trees in the background giving it the appearance of floating off the ground at a diagonal angle yet some buildings in the background possibly at a ruined factory might look nicely behind it. On the detail you gave the smoke from the launching of missiles is an outstanding touch that I absolutely wish I could bottle and throw into someones face. I cannot help but wonder though why you kept the line between the two trails of smoke on the side of one of the launchers. It makes it appear to be a crack in the entire model threatening to break apart and enhancing the smudge. If possible would you be able to open a few of the launchers giving another angle to the picture with the fire burning out inside the launch tubes firing at a target? The wiring is perfectly hidden behind the metal below, giving off the appearance that if needed the three stingers could break off allowing the unit to dump a damaged load for a quick getaway. I hope you do not mind if I roleplay with this stunning design of yours and hope to see other machines of such fearsome capacity. I have one last question I must ask before I end this. While I love the breaks around the facial area which give a frightening grin (which you should keep) I cannot help but wonder where the eyes are. Is it that black strip behind the horn?Until I see your next design farewell!

hehe
dude . thats quiet a long analysys
just go ahead and roleplay!

this piece is almost 2 years old. i didnt have that experience in creating designs back then (hence the cut line you mentioned) it really does make it look kinda fragile and thin plated.
i didnt add any eyes. maybe i thought it would look too much like the normal mecha stuff. i thought about sensors. integrated ones. just to make it a real war machine, a military tool.

sorry to tell you but i wont be able to touch this piece and add stuff to it. it would be kinda sad for me. this piece shows my ability to realize my imagination these 2 years ago. i can look back and see how i did my stuff and how ive changed

well take a look at my other stuff. i sure got more military designs lying around!
thanks for the visit

cheers

i wish i knew what technique you use here. love the sharp line and edges.

dasAdam In reply to emersontung [2007-03-19 23:03:33 +0000 UTC]

well theres nothing tricky to it starting with a silouette i then chose the lightest colour of my future palette and blocked it in with a square brush. doing this i also chose the lightsource. then u got to go on by instinct and colour all the other surfaces with darker tones
after some time u get the flow and just switch between colour-picker and the brush button.
its even easy to add more shapes to the design in that phase.

just push yourself to work without your pen-pressure
the lasso tool comes in handy too. in the end i painted a texture with my chalk brush and added all the thin lines and other details

well u got much experience yourself ^^ dont know why im telling you that stuff...maybe because u asked xD

Good job tacking animalistic qualities onto a mech. Anytime someone can do that, and the end result doesn't look silly, it's highly impressive. This looks downright awesome.

No prob. What program did you use for that? You so come up with a tutorial for what you do! I like the armour detail. How'd you get that rust or brownish inperfections on the armour?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dasAdam In reply to Drako08 [2007-02-11 15:25:36 +0000 UTC]

i tried corel painter once but i still only use photoshopCS2
well im not that confident to do a tutorial i guess i will think about it when doing my next piece promise!
Those inperfections u were talking about can be achieved very easily.U can take a fuzzy little brush, choose the desired color and add some "dirt". after that set "screen" as the layer-blending-style. OR u can search for stock textures u could fit
This time i simply added a dirty metall texture and set it to "screen"
i hope u get what i talk about

Drako08 In reply to dasAdam [2007-02-11 17:18:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh... i use corel painter, and use photoshop to touch some things up.

awww no tutorials? . lol. A fuzzy brush huh? Is that a defualt brush or a custom? Now i don't know what you're talking about when you say "screen".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dasAdam In reply to Drako08 [2007-02-11 17:44:02 +0000 UTC]

well i use the custom brushes only try out the chalk bruches for example
and "screen" as i blending mode u can set for a layer
