Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää! / Happy Independence Day!
Today is the Independence Day of Finland and just like last year I had to draw something to celebrate it. This time I drew a Finnhorse, the one and only Finnish horse breed!
The Finnhorse is not one of the most well known horse breeds but it has a long history here in Finland. There are many breed sections such as the draft type, riding horse and trotter. There's even a pony sized type, so basically you could easily find just the right Finnhorse to suit your needs, hahah
I thought of adding a blanket for the horse with a Finnish flag on it, but I decided not to, since I didn't want it to obscure the anatomy and the flag would have been way too cliché and obvious design choice That's why I made the scenery just slightly snowy so that the horse wouldn't freeze there :'D
I wanted to make this piece more special than the previous one to really show the love & passion towards my home country, so I made the background extra fancy with all the most known elements of Finnish nature like the spruce forests and snow. There's some actual constellations in the sky too - Otava (Big Dipper), Pieni karhu (Ursa Minor) and Pohjantähti (North Star)!
