I really do just love this. The art is truly superb, and you never fail at humor, DxE! ^u^
Impairment... *giggle* I just love that. Despite the flames in which it ends, this just makes me want to give that noseless guy a hug, for some reason.

you're actually right! I'm not sure how a lot of people interpret it, but I see it as he has a hole with only a bit of a jutting out-ness on top and bottom. Very much like a skull.

I'm kinda scared to ask this but...what don't you like about Susan Kay's book? I'm just wondering. You have your opinion and I have mine...I'm just wondering what parts you didn't like and so on...

umm... well, there are too many reasons. But a few of them are:
1) The ending was all-together sad and... wrong.
2) This one goes along with the first one, but there were too many inappropriate/violent descriptions.
3) It's like Susan Kay was TRYING too hard to make Erik's life suck.
4) Erik was ultra mean to Christine compared to other versions. Even when Erik got a bit violent in the book, he always treated her with the utmost respect.

hey-- no problem. I also didn't notice a lot of those things when I read it but my Dad picked it up and saw them immediately. Looking back I agree with him that it was just a pretty bad-written book that doesn't do the original novel justice (although if you see it as a published fan-fic, then it ain't that bad.)

Cool! I mean, it's always kind of a thrill for me meeting people who don't like the Kay-version. I feel so many people do and even equal it with the original sometimes.

Yes! I cannot even read it anymore...or think of it! It's so depressing and frustrating. Especially the ending, for me, you know, I mean, it's so ...unspectacular. There's no big epiphany or change, it's only moving because it makes me sad to see that he dies without really, I mean really, having changed and feeling different. He still seems so bitter and unhappy and everything seems so...so in vain!
(and I really can't bring myself to like Kay's Christine)

I got a copy from the library about two years ago, so it's a good thing I don't have to pick it up again.
I agree. I felt that there was no true redemption for him in the end. It was just-- sad. Morbidly sad. And what's up with all the inappropriate parts? Those just made my stomach turn.
I felt sick for nearly two weeks after reading it. ugh.
