Unicron.. The Great Devourer. The Chaos Bringer. The monster than lurks in the darkness between stars, endlessly seeking new worlds to eat in order to power himself while he prepars for the ultimate challenge and his only desire. To wipe out Cybertron and thus kill his eternal enemy, Primus; the God of the Transformers species who at the dawn of the universe, became the core of a new world as material coalesced around him to become Cybertron itself.

Only one thing can stop him, The Matrix of Leadership. A source of power given to the children of Primus, passed down throughout the ages from leader to leader with the words "One day, An Autobot will rise from the ranks, and use the Power of the Matrix to Light our Darkest Hour."

Though the Cybertronians where unaware of Unicron, and thus the ultimate destiny of the Matrix until he found Megatron floating through space, dying after his battle to the death against his long time enemy and last of the Primes, Optimus Prime.

Striking a deal with the planet sized being who offered to gift him a new body and new troops to command under the condition that he use them to seek out the Matrix and the one who carries it and destroy them, he turned Megatron into the Decepticon known as Galvatron and set him loose upon the galaxy, seeking out the Autobot Matrix and the Autobot who carries it now, Ultra Magnus. Though he did not plan to destroy the Matrix, but take it and attempt to use it to gain control over the being known as Unicron.

It was at that moment that Galvatron learned the horrible secret of Unicron as he watched the entire planet he stood upon transform into a being larger than anyone could fathom and begin destroying Cybertron while Galvatron could only look on helplessly.

Though during this battle, a new Prime rose from the ranks, fulfilling the prophecy as the Autobot named Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime and opened the Matrix, releasing it's power, the power of Primus himself inside Unicron, destroying him finally.
